I spent a day here and was disappointed with a few aspects of it. First of all, we wanted to take some of the harder, more scenic trails. The map was confusing and we couldn't find signs to help us. We went inside to ask someone who pointed us in what was supposedly the direction of the trail we wanted... More

We had such a good time! We were expecting Alaska style, not the Ritz so we were pleasantly surprised with how nice it... More

partly very hot water and sooo relaxing. the colder it's outside the better it feels. the sulphur smell isn't too bad, just natural. a recommendation: if you don't shower after the visit you'll this smooth feeling on your skin for rather a long time.

The Chena Hot Springs resort at the end of the road is amazing. Soaking in natural hot spring water in their pool on a 10 degree day is a unique experience for us. The various tours offered can keep you busy and interested for several days.

My friends and I took a day trip to Chena and throughout the day I thought it was kind of mediocre. The food wasn't good and was overpriced, the hiking trails were poorly marked, the tour guides were boring, and all of the fun activities (snowboarding, snowmobiling, dog sledding) were booked. But the hot springs definitely make the trip worthwhile!... More

All the rentals were in really bad shape as were the transportation and the snow mobiles. The area is great but everything is expensive and you don't get any quality

90min drive there from Fairbanks. Ice 'igloo' for an appletini drink...cool!. Food available...busy. Hot springs...true to name. Steamed up in the cold night air. Don't forget that you will have to pay 25c each time you open your locker, so make sure you're ready to dunk before you close it. Didn't see the lights this night but was an enjoyable... More

I really had to be talked in to going here. I booked a tour with Alaska Wildlife. They picked me up at my hotel which was a huge plus because the road was so icy. We went to the ice museum - it was ok, one time seeing it was good enough. Don't waste your money on the appletini. Restaurant... More

visit to chena river recreational area is a must if you are visiting fairbanks. It is an hour or hour and a half away from the main city but is worth the drive, the ice museum and the appletini are a must too. the hot springs make up for the bitter cold in the region during the aurora viewing season... Whether you walk the top of the flood control, see the dam, swim the lake or fish the river there is always something great to do here. It is also nice and dark for viewing and photographing the Aurora.
