Having never heard of Garri Melcher it was a great experience. Personally, we preferred his earlier work and it was all so well laid out throughout the home and particularly his studio. The enthusiastic volunteers made the visit the more enoyable.

While we are not real big on Art we did take the tour to the Home and Studio. It was one of the stops on the Timeless Ticket. It is a beautiful home and the art work that fills the home by Gari Melcher and friends were very interesting. The tour tells you the history about some of the art... More

Gari Melchers Home and Studio is a rare find. The home is beautiful and the gardens are fantastic! The studio is full of history and beautiful paintings. As "locals", we visit once a year or so, but always put this on our schedule when we have visitors from out of town. This is a real "gem"!

I have been to Belmont a few times since I went to college in town. I also attended a friends' wedding many years ago. This time I brought my entire family. My kids enjoyed the house tour and the art gallery. The staff had scavenger hunts for the kids to find features. If we weren't going home that day we... More

I had not heard of Gari Melcher as an artist and had a wonderful experience at the home and studio. The setting is exquisite (beautiful weather never hurts). There were many helpful (sometimes overly so) docents. The house, studio, and gardens were wonderful. I really enjoyed Melcher's art as well as the art he had collected in his lifetime. It... More

Visited Belmont on a day trip to Fredericksburg May 23. Everyone encountered was warm and welcoming. I went because I had heard the grounds were nice. I was not familiar with Gari Melchers. What a treat! Wonderful to experience the light coming through the studio windows. Very nice exhibit of his art throughout. The house tour was interesting. The grounds... More

was not really aware of melcher's art before visiting, and found his paintings to be dull and lifeless floating between realistic and semi-impressionistic, not my style

Thank you for taking time to review our site. You input is important to us. I’m sorry Gari Melchers’ art isn’t to your liking. People’s taste regarding art can differ greatly. Mr. Melchers himself was not overly fond of the 1930s emerging “modern art” scene. I do hope you were able to take advantage of our historic house tour, stroll... More
