Old town offers a variety of interests. Recommend an initial visit to the friendly Visitor's Center, and trolley ride available right next to Center's parking. Trolley ride w driver Mark highlighted all the historic spots to visit, shopping, and local restaurants. He explained local history of Fredericksburg which certainly pre-dated the Civil War, but led to its importance too. It's... More

I expected to find cute little shops with hand made goods and historical items. What I found were junk shops (they call them antique stores). And not a very good selection of restaurants.

Not impressed. Been to many "old towns" before and that's what they were. Old portions of the town. This old town was to commercialized. All they had here was a bunch of commercial shopping. No history here.

Heard this would make an enjoyable and worthwhile day trip from our home near Annapolis, Md. Certainly was worth it! Great shops, quaint ambiance, several enticing eateries; in short, much to offer for a week-end activity that's not-too-far. Trolley tours for those who want to get the quick tutorial on this historic little gem. But even for those who would... More

A lot of antique shops and over priced eateries. The problem is that most of the shops close at 5. Also most of the restaurants and shops are closed on Mondays.

We love to be able to roam Old Towns, look at the homes that are from the war periods and visit the attractions and such. The Historic Old Town has a fair amount to see. Caroline Street is the main street and has many antique shops, small eateries and some attractions as well. One nice thing that amazed me was... More

A quaint peaceful place to visit. Start with the Trolley Tour which shows you all the main attractions and with a knowledgeable and humerous guide is an hour well spent. Then tou can wander around at your own pace either on foot or by car, but watch the one way system. Some of the attrctions charge an entrance fee but... More

Nice place to walk around, browse the shops and grab something to eat. A lot of historic architecture to look at. More antique shops and malls than you can count. Many nice shops and restaurants. Worth spending a relaxed day browsing.
