The Brookline Booksmith is a firm tradition in Brookline and represents what is fabulous about independent booksellers. It holds every book you can imagine - or the staff will order whatever you want immediately. Helpful, cheerful staff. No wonder it's always packed!

Brookline Booksmith has been around for years and survived/thrived thanks to a well curated selection of books, knowledgeable staff, and enough non-book gift items (jewelry, clever knick-knacks, greeting cards, eye glass cases, mugs, etc.) to make it a sure bet if you are looking for something great. It is by far my favorite bookstore in the Greater Boston Area.

I attended a book signing here last night with a friend. We arrived when the event was well underway but we were allowed into the store right away to purchase the book. After purchasing we hopped into the line and a very friendly sales associate came and took down our names so we could get our books personalized. Within five... More

This and the Harvard Book Store are the two best bookstores in the entire Boston area, but this one wins out due to the excellent selection of discount (brand new but marked down) books on the tables near the front of the store. Excellent fiction and non-fiction for well under $10... I always leave here with an armload, and it... More

Lovely little bookstore with not only book but other knick knacks and such. Off to the side downstairs they even have a used book section. Staff was very friendly.

If you like bookstores, you'll love this one! They have an amazing selection of books for adults and children as well as a terrific gift section. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. The place is always busy, which is encouraging as so many local bookstores have disappeared. Highly recommended!

I live in Brookline and shop there all the time! It is the best! I buy used books downstairs, new and bargain books upstairs. The children's section is great with cozy spots to read. They have unique gifts . jewelry bags socks scarfs and more
