My middle son (9) and I visited Fort Stanwix in April. When we left, we agreed we needed to bring eldest (11) and youngest (6) sons also, and we returned on July 3rd. The Park Rangers were great. One in particular who I saw both visits helped youngest earn his junior ranger badge and made him feel very important. The... more

This is one of the newer national monuments. I thought this place taught a great bit of history about the revolutionary war period. What was even more interesting to me was the history of how this monument came to be. We stopped off at Fort Stanwix on our way from New York to Niagara and were glad we did. This fort played an important part in the War of Independence and has been re-constructed in wonderful detail..
