I went today

For being a small Museum it covered the Mid 1800s to the 1970s with a nice section on the African American contributions to the growth of the city and the surrounding area.

We stopped here to visit their Old Fashioned Soda Fountain - not many of those left. I felt this wasn't a true Soda Fountain but a mock up display. A true soda Fountain has seating along the counter. The ice cream was expensive, as expected. The display rack against one entire was was completely empty. The worker said the director... More

We visited the museum during a family trip to AR. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The collection is impressive and covers a wide range of events, people and subjects. Each member of our family came away with a unique experience and favorite exhibits. Be sure to visit if you are in Fort Smith!

We read the reviews and we're hoping for a little adventure... But got there and found out soda fountains not working, trains not currently running except on weekends, and were greeted by less than friendly employees. At that point, we decided to call it a day with this attraction.

Conveniently located. Interesting history of the "birth of Ft. Smith" and the changing of times. Allow a couple of hours to wonder through to see everything.

There is quite a bit of reading to do so make sure you have a few hours to spend at this museum. The museum has many exhibits. One of the exhibits on the second floor relates to the history of capital punishment in Ft. Smith and a warning is posted just off the elevator for those who may wish to... More

This building provides a indepth tour of this very historic city. It is a tad crowded, however, if you take the time, you will be able to see it at your leisure. The staff is friendly and very knowledge.
