Me and two associates and my daughter drove to hilton head and walked on the beach. We loved it and I planned to stay but interruptions occured. I hope to go back in the near future. It was so peaceful and the atmosphere was welcoming and calm.

The beach is never over run with people, and has all the accesses for day and night leisure and entertainment. Activities are year around.
We were staying in Savannah, so only a 30 min pretty drive from there. Parking was easy being Feb and nice that it's a pay and display type but you can go all over the island with the same ticket.
Loved it, beautiful long sandy beach with lots of shells. A nicely kept pier. We are from the Canadian Prairies,...

We went to Tybee Island specifically for the beach. It was easy to access and we had no trouble finding parking. The beach is both long and wide. There always seems to be terrible traffic both getting onto and off the island, as the only road in and out bottlenecks. When you get there, there are only a scant...

I really enjoyed Tybee Island. We visited the Lighthouse and the Fort. Walked along the Beach for several hours and enjoyed the wide open beaches.
On 5 day vaca in Savannah we wanted a little ocean day trip...and it was a "trip" indeed. Going to the beach in Dec may have its drawbacks, but still it was a pretty junky place. We didn't read the reviews until after, which verified our complaints, and yes misery loves company on all the issues with parking. It felt...

We are systematically working our way up the East Coast barrier island resort areas. We had high hopes for Tybee Island. First off, the beaches we have seen are mostly low and flat. So, seen one and you have seen them all (mostly). What sets them apart depends on what is behind the beaches.
What disappointed us was the lack...
