A New Day For Tours...in Savannah, Hilton Head, Riceboro, and the Lowcountry of Georgia and South Carolina – “Day Clean Journeys”. We take you on journeys through time. Get a full view of the history regarding the above areas on one of our journeys (tours). We pride ourselves on providing “Tours for Everyone”! Anyone can and will enjoy our tours. Day Clean is a Gullah phrase that means “new day”, “beginning of the day”, or “dawn”. In addition, it is a philosophy of life that means each day is a new day; each day starts anew; no matter what occurred yesterday – today is a new day (“day clean”) . We provide stimulating, informative, and enlightening journeys. You may even become a little inspired after a journey.Students and Teachers, Families, Religious Groups, Youth Organizations, Conference Attendees, Senior Citizens, Friends, and Others have been enthralled by our journeys. We are sure you will be enthralled, also.We have provided tours and shared the history of the lowcountry to groups for over a decade. Not only can we provide a wonderful tour but we can arrange for living history presentations that are entertaining, engaging, and illuminating.

We had the opportunity (late registration) to join this tour while we were visiting Savannah...there were many options available but this one caught our attention. From the moment we arrived to join Dr. Jamal, we felt a genuine connection. He is on top of his game...the subtle references and interrelationships from the Savannah African American experiences to our everyday movement... More

I was so pleased with this tour that I want to register for a class with Dr. Jamal at Savannah State :-). His knowledge of Savannah was amazing. I learned so much about this wonderful city and its rich history. Dr. Jamal was humourous, engaging and his story telling ability was awesome. We will definetely recommend everyone that we know... I echo the sentiments of everyone who previously reviewed this tour. Dr. Jamal Toure was an excellent tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and gave us a very thorough tour of Savannah, sharing the African-American and Gullah/Geechee history and culture along the way. He painted a picture of Black Savannah for us and I felt like I was in a... More

I didn't realize it initially, but I booked 2 tours with Day Clean Journeys and Dr. Jamal and both days were FANTASTIC!! Dr. Jamal knows his history and is very engaging. As I am writing this, well over a year has passed since I visited Savannah and I can remember these tours as if they happened yesterday. The First African... More

We traveled to Savannah for the labor day holiday weekend to relax and take in some culture. Little did we know between two couples we would have the same referral to Day clean Journeys. We were told that Jamal was an awesome tour guide. Well now we have had the experience and we too recommend Day Tours Journey. Here is... More

Mr. Jamal gave a thorough history of the contribution and triumphs of slaves & African-Americans that is unfortunately not widely known. We stopped and toured inside the First African Baptist Church and the Beach Institute. He shared a wealth of knowledge that now I can now pass on. Although I cannot change the ugly past, I left feeling inspired knowing... More

Jamal is a character no doubt about it. I really wanted some great history of slaves and African Americans in Georgia and that is what I got. He took us to places that you do not get to go to on your average cookie cutter tour. I really enjoyed it. It was worth the time and money.

If you enjoy learning history from all perspectives, this is a must do. This is such an important part of our American history and I am glad that Jamal is there to share it with those of us who aren't always exposed to this history. Brother Jamal tells about this with dignity and grace. Despite the uncomfortable reality of some... More

Our entire family (adults and children ages 5-13) loved the journey (tour)! Each of us learned a lot and have talked extensively about what we learned since. One of us had previously toured in Savannah and was amazed at all that she had not learned before this tour. We would definitely recommend this 'journey' to everyone! Jamal is an amazing... More
