My husband and I, plus our two dear friends were in Savannah over the weekend to celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary. We spontaneously decided to contact some black history tour companies regarding an afternoon tour. We left a voice message with one company, and were very fortunate to speak with Dr. Jamal Toure' of Day Clean Journeys Tours. Jamal graciously... More

We had over 30 family members take the African American History Tour with Jamal and another gentleman. From the very beginning Jamal points our the underlying history of the First African Baptist Church, parks, buildings, streets and riverfront as it relates to slavery and the history of blacks in Savannah. This was a wonderful history lesson for everyone.

I was about to book another tour but my husband decided we should give this one a shot despite my concerns. Jamal called us back and we met him at the visitor center.... More

We went to the visitors center expecting to take another African-American tour of Savannah and the tour bus never showed up. While we were waiting, Jamal showed up and we asked him if he had room for us (we weren't the only people waiting for the other tour). He said he did and explained to us that he would need... More

First and foremost I must take my hat off to Jamal. You are a master story teller that capture the mind and imagination with ease. You are so passionate and authentic in your pursuit to educate those around you about the true history of the plight of the African-American experience in the low- country. I was so riveted by everything... More

Dr. Jamal Toure knows his stuff. Whatever you learn on all the other informative tours in Savannah is simply insufficient and incomplete without his. The African backgrounds and building blocks of the city - physical, religious, linguistic, political, economic, and cultural - are essential to an understanding of the whole. Dr. Toure is best when engaging in one on one... More
