I have just completed a drive/walk tour of the Savannah Wildlife Reserve. It was fascinating. Many species of birds, alligators, turtles, even a rat snake. The guide from Wilderness South East Tours, which is a non-profit organisation, was outstandingly knowledgeable and shared her enthusiasm and information generously. First, the Google map for this as shown during my review is wrong as far as the Refuge along the GA-SC border is concerned. Find out where it really is and GO!! It is easy to find by car. These are old rice fields that have many different birds, alligators, and magnificent views along with various flooded fields. If you... more

I was drug kicking and screaming to the SWR this past weekend. Im thinking hey what the heck its a post rain cloudy day the air pressure is up and the tide is comming in..... i should be fishing...... but NOOOOO...... my wife had planned the day. let me tell you i was knocked outta my chair as i watched... more

The wife and I are from michigan, we don't see things like this back home. It was the best, we have gone 2 times now and still dont have enough pics or video. You can not beat it. and the best part is it is free. If you love nature please go. Thanks Jim & Vickie more

The old adage that the best things in life are free is no truer than a drive thru SWR. Driving along a levee for about a 5 mile trek over marshland one encounters a different life, birds galore and alligators make for a memorable trip...bring the camera and the zoom!
