Great pieces including lots by Girl Scout founder--her drawings, etc. She was very talented. Had several impressionist pieces that were just gorgeous. The Bird Girl is here so you have to come. I didn't enjoy the Modern Museum as much but the gift shop was fun. The light room was wild! Note: If you purchase a ticket to all 3... More

The Telfair Academy, situated in Mary Telfair's home (with many additions) is interesting with some good art, furnished rooms from her home an an incredible rotunda which has the best art in the museum. The docent tour was good, if not a little "too much information". We recommend. The contemporary art museum, basically across the street, is a quite amazing... More

We went to the Telfair on Saturday, April 7, 2012. It was a “Bank of America” free weekend so it only cost us $5 to get my daughter in the door. The front desk staff person was very friendly and helpful with parking and what else to do in the city. The museum itself is small and easily seen in... More

A small collection that one can actually view in an afternoon of well done Impressionist-style paintings from less well known artists. All set in a former Savannah mansion. Well worth seeing. More

Haven't been in a while but the theme changes all the time. Not sure if the Bird Girl is still there but check it out anyway. There is history and contemporary art. You never know from month to month but the building is fantastic to see anyway. More

I thought the admission price was a little steep for such a small museum that can be seen in 30 minutes. No real famous artists or important masterpieces here. I'd recommend it if you're an avid art lover & seen all the other sights in Savannah. If you have just a casual interest in art- skip it. The only claim... More

One of the benefits of visiting regional museums is we are exposed to the somewhat idiosyncratic selections of those who have donated or bequeathed pieces from their private collections. To me this is an advantage, and it's certainly true at the Telfair, with a gallery ranging from enormous militaristic paintings to Art Nouveau. Don't miss the American Impressionists in the... More

We visited the Telfair Museum because of the special photography exhibits. These were okay but the highlight was the permanent exhibit of paintings on the first floor. We thought the artists were all very good but the two large paintings depicting military scenes were exceptional because of the detail and colors. I would definitely include this museum if I was... The main Telfair Art museum, the one that has been standing for however many years is definitely a relic, for better or worse. If you visit you will be treated to some Savannah history just by visiting the building itself. Within, depending upon the exhibits currently available it will be hit or miss. Inquire what exhibits are showing prior to... More
