The house was neat to see, and the garden was beautiful, but I am not sure that it was worth the $12.50 price tag. The tour lasted about 20 minutes and was a little crowded since all you saw was the downstairs rooms (basically 4 rooms and the hallway) We had trouble seeing the items she was pointing out because... more

My husband and I have just visited the Mercer Williams home and were disappointed by the price, the sad state of many parts of the rooms and the general feeling of neglect. It is somehow ridiculous that pictures aren't allowed, not even in the garden. Our tour guide brought up the "book" in the study which has photos of the... more

As noted in other reviews, there is no discussion of the event that made Mercer House famous, but having read the book (and it was long after it topped the charts) and seen the movie, I decided I wanted to see the house in person. This was our first trip to Savannah and to say the historic district is lovely... more

I just returned from a trip to Savannah & one of the first things I wanted to do was find the Mercer Williams House. We didn't see the house until that night & excited to see you could take a tour of the home. Our tour guide was very pleasant & knew all the history of the home. I kept... more

In October 2007 my wife and I were excited to visit the Mercer House in Savannah. The Tour Guide was excellent and reminded me of a fine Southern Lady who was giving us a tour of her own home. She stated the tour was of "Art, Antiques and Architecture" and being able to spend the almost one and a half... more

I was pleased that we could visit the home and had low expectations given what I had read here, the $12.50 fee plus service charge, and the renovation occurring in front (attached pic). We enjoyed it! The Southern gentleman tour guide was very professional, and surprised me by being forthright about the Danny Hansford death while we were standing in... more

I visited the Mercer house on 9/26/07. I loved 'The Book' and didn't want to miss the house but $12 plus tax per person is a bit steep considering the fact that there are other restored homes that are far more interesting in terms of their architecture and history (The Davenport being one). Yet, I knew I would do it... more

I have read the book and movie and was very interested in seeing the house. It was priced too high for what the tour showed. There are tours of other houses that are longer and more informational than this one for a lot less money. But anyone that has read the book and seen the movie should go to see... more

My family & I toured the Mercer-Williams House on Friday, June 15 '07. Our experience was pleasant. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. We didn't feel rushed thru. It was $12.50 for adults & $8.50 for students. The tour was about 30/35 mins. You wait in the carriage house then head thru the garden to the steps of the house.... more

I just got back from Savannah and toured the Mercer House. Until visiting, I had never heard of the book nor the house. I purchased the book while there and it makes for interesting reading. Toured the house and was a bit disappointed. I was expecting more information on what happened in the home (primarily concerning Jim Williams and Danny... more
