The view of the Golden Gate Bridge from Fort Point is magnificant; you are actually below the bridge looking up at it. The fort itself dates from before the Civil War, built to protect SF Bay and the shipping to the West Coast. Climb up the winding staircase to the top of the fort for a great view. This is... more

Tucked beneath the GGB on the San francisco side is Fort Point. At the moment it is only open a few days a week to to the bridge undergoing a sysmic refit. If you are in the city I wonder very much recommend spending 30-60 minutes visiting this place as it's fascinating. The best way to see it if you... more
