This area of Baltimore used to be a mill town, and many of the original residents were from the appalachian region....some residents are descendants of those people. The neighborhood continues to get more fancy, and now many of the charming shops have been replaced with restaurants. Now many tourists are rubbing elbows with the locals.

We only went there for the ice cream shop but it was a quick and fun stop. Quirky mix of hipster and old. Little shops fun for window shopping. Missed the Christmas scene this past season. Not your standard "family " outing.

I've been there PERSONALLY on December 21, 2015 - FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME! That area ironically spans only one block between Chestnut Avenue and Keswick Road. But it looks like a circus being held, with sheds holding Santa, the reindeer (3 actual ones), the Yeti who was in combat with Rudolph, even 12-year-olds riding ON UNICYCLES. The entire block... You might have a lot of fun if you go with your friends. It's safe... There are bars around open before and after new years eve.

Came during Christmas to check out the neighborhood of lights. Recommended to park and walk, it'll take you a total of maybe 20 minutes if you take your time and walk up to the houses. Nice to do with your family after a big dinner.

The architecture here has been pretty well-preserved, and it's a relatively safe and comfortable place to walk around. If you have to be in Baltimore, you might as well be here!

We love this fun and quirky neighborhood. Great coffee shops, fantastic boutiques and good restuarants. Beautiful neighborhood architecture from bygone eras.

Restaurants, boutiques and typical Baltimore local color, hipsters, mingle with neighborhood folks enjoying the sights and sounds of the area!
