The "Avenue" hon has come a long way from dime store shopping and Ponds (was a department store). From one end to the next, the Avenue offers a wealth of opportunities for the hungry visitor to the area. Starting at David's Sports Bar on Falls and 36th to the Creamery at 36th and Keswick a traveler can find an array... More

I went to Honfest for the first time this past spring with a friend. Honfest is an annual festival in June to celebrate the working women of Baltimore and the term of affection they use so frequently, hon, which is short for honey. For fun, certain people dress up in beehive hairdos usually with a brooch in it, cat like... More

Hampden is a cool area at any time of year, but at Christmas it takes on a special glow. Shopping and dining on 36th Street is always terrific. At Christmas, 34th Street becomes surreal with the homes all decorated and thousands of lights twinkling up and down the street. It is wonderful and if you are in Baltimore then, make... More

There's a street Baltimoreans call The Avenue (36th St.) in Hampden. It's loaded with some of the best restaurants and bars in the city as well as art and antique shops. This is one of the first stops any visitor should make. You can hear live music, dine on creative cuisines at any price point, shop to your heart's content... More

I loved this neighborhood! Unfortunately, aside from the delicious Charmery and some restaurant, many of the shops were closed on the evening one of my Baltimore-residing friends took me there. If ever in the area again, I'd definitely go back earlier in the day to check out the shops. I would love to visit during Christmas to see 34th Street... More

Great all around feel to this neighborhood, tons of food options (great for a gluten-free friend who came to visit).

Years ago I use to live in Hampden. Matter of fact I lived on the 34th street that has the annual Christmas lights show. Around Christmas times its a wonderfully over the top gaudy light show celebration. This was also before Hampden became trendy. (I would say its past trendy now though) When I first moved there it was having... More

This little town is loaded with places to eat, local shopping, day spas and consignment clothes and furniture shops. Great for walking in and dog and children friendly. People are riding bicycles, walking their dogs and chatting up visitors, thanking them for visiting their little village.

Loved spending our day after Thanksgiving here! We strolled the entire Avenue, shopped for shoes at a chocolate shop/shoe store, fell in love with many lovely stores, drank coffee and experienced a very eclectic and artful atmosphere. The antique and thrift stores had some excellent finds, and the prices were quite good. I felt at home in this district, where... More
