I had no idea what to expect from the show... We bought tickets on a whim.. No regrets at all! What a great show! The actors are wonderful! The interaction with the audience is so neat! We had the best time! I think tickets are about $20 which is such a bargain. I've paid $100 for shows that I enjoyed... More

So we really, really enjoyed this local theater production. You could tell from the opening-acts that the local community takes a great deal of pride in this long-running play detailing stories and history of Astoria and its associated industries. We felt the acting was very good (did the old-timer banjo player have a few nips of whiskey pre-play?) and the... More

OK, so it is not "sophisticated" theater (whatever that is) but it is a lot of fun for a really reasonable price. Where else can you hiss at and throw popcorn at villains, cheer for the "good" guys, sigh with the heroine and learn how to smoke salmon (the difficult part is keeping the tail lit....). They must be doing... More

Terrible show. Uncomfortable seats. We left after the second intermission. Don't waste your time and money ($17 pp).

Lots of fun. The play "Shanghaied in Astoria" is extremely corny and includes a lot of audience participation. We had a group of 35 people and everyone loved the show. Some of the actors are very talented and it was clear that they really enjoyed their roles.

ASOC got it's start with a locally written and produced classic musical melodrama "Shanghied In Astoria" which is performed each year to packed houses. Locals rarely miss it.

What a fun place to watch a local production. Very fun place and great family shows and fun for all. It was Shanghaied in Astoria that we went to see and we loved the actors and the audience participation...just a lot of fun, we plan to go back for there Christmas show!

We will definitely go see Shanghaied again! I don't think we stopped laughing the whole night. The actors are so fun to watch and interact with. Lots of popcorn throwing, yelling, and good fun for everyone.

This is one of the most enjoyable plays you will ever see. I love how they get the aduiance involved in each act. The best part is throwig popcore at the Villians. A must see play. You will laugh till it hurts.

An interactive, musical, melodrama loosely based on events in Old Astoria. This 3 act play is fun for the whole family. Where else can kids (and adults) throw popcorn at the actors. I have seen Shangaied about 20 times and each time it is a little different. This is a unique part of Astoria. If you don't go you are... More
