We drove here to tour Fort Caroline but it was closed for the day because of a fund raising drive for the National Park Service. Well, hello!! Don't the bureaucrats running this park service know anything? The best way to raise income is to start charging more for admission fees and to charge for entry to all national parks instead... More

If you are going to be in the area, possibly visiting the other parks in the area, take a moment to stop and see the monument. The park is not very big and there is not much to see. The monument is nice and the view across the water is nice. There is a bench under the oak trees that... More

Ribault Monument is part of the Fort Caroline National Memorial unit of the Timucuan Ecological & Historic Preserve, a U.S. national park. It sits atop St. Johns Bluff. It commemorates the 1562 landing of French explorer Jean Ribault, a Huguenot, near the mouth of the St. Johns River. Ribault erected a stone column bearing the coats of arms of his... More

The Ribault Monument is a historical marker in memory of the French attempt to settle and colonize the 'New World'-with tragic results. Ribault was the leader of the French settlers and this simple tribute is on a nice high bluff overlooking the St.Johns River-but the views are obstructed by the heavy tree cover. Take a couple of minutes, read the... More

The pictures show all 15 feet of excitement. There is a view, but it is not panoramic due to tree cover. Used to ride my bike to the parking lot every week because the area had a few hills. Only went to see the monument once, which was enough.

This is a nice stop if you're visiting the Theo Roosevelt hiking trails or Fort Caroline. The view from here is quite nice and the monument is lovely, though there is something not quite right about it. Visit to see if you can figure out what I'm talking about.

I go here with my children. It's a nice view of the St. John's river and a little bit of history. Maybe some day my kids will appreciate my efforts to educate them but I'm not holding my breathe.

Don't know if there is a higher landing than here. Overlooks the St Johns river. Quiet peaceful. Great place to read a book or just reflect upon the days of yore
