Went this past sunday. Got a ticket for speeding for going 12mph yet my foot wasnt even on the gas. My jeep was just idling down the beach. Recived a seatbelt violation(if I wans't on the beach I would understand that but...) p.s. the cop had his seatbelt off.(it's ok for him though) The cop kept us there for well... More

We come to Jacksonville every summer since this is where my dad is from. My aunt reserves a spot on the river every year. This year we decided to bring my dog she is a big baby and does not like us to leave her home alone. We went to the beach on Saturday morning to meet up with my... More

Expect to be harassed, called offensive names, dirty facilities and everchanging rules. Incompetence from mgmt down. We stayed for 4 days paid a month in advance and as our group arrived we were told reservation made but no show, we had been there 3 days already, then called squatters and not allowed to use both spaces we paid for by COJ... They apparently have a huge problem with squatters at the campsites at this beach. Their rules are based on how to avoid squatters and homeless people staying at their campsites without paying. The personnel here are rude, and could care less about their paying guests comfort as long as they have paid their fees. Even with paid reservations, one cannot... More

Still cool to drive on the beach ... North Side and Dunes closed for habitat control & South Side was packed with people and cars.

Fairly quiet place. Not filled wit a ton of people. Its near the Naval Base Mayport. The shrimp boats and cargo boats come in and go out at the inlet of St. John's River which is to the right. Dolphin sometimes follow boats and manatees can be seen sometimes. I caught a sea robin, lady fish and amber jacks from... More

Take a left once u get to the beach. Drive on the sand all the way to the end. It's much less crowded down there and u can wade over to the little island. Bring a beach hut, your grill, and cooler and stay all say.

What I really enjoyed about this is that you can drive up on the beach, put up a tent and BBQ. My first time there was this past Sunday and we had a good time although I wish they had trash cans on the beach to dispose of waste, but we just used a plastic bag for that. It was... More

We camped for one night, May 17, 2014 in campsite 59. Campsite is okay but that doesn't matter at all because the bathrooms are shared by every beach goer and are absolutely unsanitary and disgusting. Women didn't even have toilet paper and the toilet paper that was there was pasted all over the walls of the bathroom. The men had... More
