While not inexpensive, given the work that has to be done, this is an experience that shouldn't be missed. My portrait looks like it was taken during the War. Mr. Gibson is a consummate professional- working diligently to give your picture the right look.

In the City of Gettysburg Pa. is a photographer that will take you back in time. I was planning a visit to Gettysburg, and have always wanted to do a period photo. I found Mr. Gibson online and made an appointment. This had to be one of the best things I have ever done, I took my oldest grandson with... More

We were looking to get an authentic "period" photo and we chose the right place! Mr. Gibson is known around the world yet he is humble and down to earth. He explained the process to our family (chemicals, camera, etc) and also was a wealth of knowledge of Civil War period history and photography. He has worked with many celebreties... More

This was suggested to us by the Inn Keepers at the Cashtown Inn. What a great suggestion for a period picture. We went with a package that allowed us to give prints out as gifts this Christmas, and the story of the experience was as much of a hit as the photo itself! Set some time aside and treat yourself... I've been to a few of these types of businesses all over the U.S. and I can say with good conscience that this was by far the best experience between all of them. The owners (a couple) could not have been more pleasant; taking the time to show our group of nine (9) all about the process including both the... More

We wanted to memorialize our trip to Gettysburg for our anniversary. This was definitely an excellent choice. The special attention to detail and the experience of having an authentic old time photo with genuine antique equipment was the best! We highly recommend a photo by Gibson!!

I am totally blown away by the 1-star review someone posted! I don't attempt to second-guess various experiences that folks have but what is described here - does not described either Rob or his work!!!! I waltzed into Gibson's for the first time way-back-when in 1999, literally couple of days after they opened their door. It took me and my... More

If you want a tin type photo during the summer season, MAKE AN APPOINTMENT in advance. We had a 1:00pm appointment, and even through there were walk-ins, we were taken right away. Since it was the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg battel, my husband wanted to be a Union Gerneal. His outfit was amazing! It was so authentic and he... More

I enjoy seeing the photos that Rob takes. Everyone who works here is very friendly and learning about the whole photography process was very interesting.

On our recent visit to Gettysburg for the 150th anniversary of the battle, we had our 1863 style portrait done at Rob Gibson’s Photographic Studio. We arrived for our July 3rd appointment and as they dressed my wife in her period clothes, I was outfitted in Union Officer attire. We had chosen an authentic wet plate photograph format used for...
