My expectations were high after reading other reviews of Mr. Gibson's photos, expectations that he and his wife surpassed with flying colors! Not only were they extremely kind, they were a gold mine of local history and of the photographic process itself. My whole family was expertly outfitted in period styles of our choice, and arranged in front of an... More

Rob Gibson is the best-known wet-plate photographer in the US. His studio is reminiscent of those operating during the Civil War. We are reenactors and had our own outfits but the Gibsons have good period type clothes/uniforms for modern tourists. Always pleased with Rob's photographs and he is always ready to share with customers about the wet plate process. No... More

We had a wonderful experience at this studio. Not only were the owners extremely nice they went out of their way to make sure we were pampered and comfortble with our experience. The clothes fit perfect, not like most costume type outfits. These were the real thing. Both my husband and o felt as if we were in 1863. They... More

My son and I had a tin type made during our March visit. We were both amazed at the process and time taken to ensure that we had a great experience. The tin type is EXCELLENT and will be treasured as a family heirloom. The information and time taken by Mr.Gibson was greatly appreciated. Not only did we have an... More

The photography was quick and professional. And learning about the chemical process was an extra treat!

While not inexpensive, given the work that has to be done, this is an experience that shouldn't be missed. My portrait looks like it was taken during the War. Mr. Gibson is a consummate professional- working diligently to give your picture the right look.

In the City of Gettysburg Pa. is a photographer that will take you back in time. I was planning a visit to Gettysburg, and have always wanted to do a period photo. I found Mr. Gibson online and made an appointment. This had to be one of the best things I have ever done, I took my oldest grandson with... More

We were looking to get an authentic "period" photo and we chose the right place! Mr. Gibson is known around the world yet he is humble and down to earth. He explained the process to our family (chemicals, camera, etc) and also was a wealth of knowledge of Civil War period history and photography. He has worked with many celebreties... More

This was suggested to us by the Inn Keepers at the Cashtown Inn. What a great suggestion for a period picture. We went with a package that allowed us to give prints out as gifts this Christmas, and the story of the experience was as much of a hit as the photo itself! Set some time aside and treat yourself...
