This is not an attraction but rather a group of about 100 elite battlefield guides for the Gettysburg NMP. They have to study hard for the incredibly long and detailed test that qualifies them for licensing. After passing the written exam, they have to pass a practical field test as well. You can hire them by the hour, with a... More

You will see the battlefield and town in a new light when you hire a licensed guide! In addition to an expert review of the battle, this time we learned many details about munitions and their role in the battle.

We just finished visiting the battlefield with our guide Jim Miller. During four hours Jim took us through the three days of battle in a way no book or audio tour ever could. As was as if Jim had have been part of the battle. The amount of detail we got was astonishing. His passion for the subject was immense... More

One of these guides is a must for an incredible tour of the most hallowed ground in our county. Every one of them came to take the test after years of reading and studying the civil war, and in particular, the events at Gettysburg. Every one of them have a burning desire to know more and more and as much... More

We spent the day at Gettysburg. We hired a tour guide who drove our car and made stops at significant points on the battlefield. The breadth of knowledge and detail was impressive. You could imagine yourself actually being there during the battle. While you can book the tour through the Visitor Center website, you can save yourself $10 and make... More

We took a bus tour and it was disappointing on account of the bus and not being able to hear the narration. Then we heard about this free lecture at the cemetery where Lincoln gave the Gettysburg address. Our Guide was Doug Douds and he was absolutely fantastic. It was a million times better then the tour we paid for.... More

The guide was well worth it! He knew his history and presented it in an organized way to fully grasp what happened those 3 days in July so long ago.

We planned to just do a double decker bus tour, but an employee at the museum where we went first to view the film and see the cyclorama advised that we should get the personal guide. Cost was $65, he drove our car and proceeded to take us on the battleground tour from Day 1 thru 3. He added numerous... More

We wanted an overview of the battlefield and decided the best way to get this was to use a guide who would drive our car round the site and explain the battle. We were so lucky to get Gary who had been studying the battle since he was a boy and had a font of knowledge about what had happened... More
