History comes to life at Confederate Trails. We now offer featured rides with living historians in period dress who will tell you what life was like during the time of the Civil War. For those who love in-depth history, the Licensed Battlefield Guide is the only way to go. The battlefield story unfolds as you ride right where the soldiers were - experiencing the power of this important time in our nation's history from the center of the battlefield itself. Horse lovers and historians alike will enjoy this ride. Our horses have all been awarded healthy horse certification by a premier Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. The horses are very friendly and mild mannered. We look forward to riding with you. "Not just the chance for once-in-a-lifetime photographs, it is an unforgettable experience" - Susquehanna Life Magazine

This was a highlight of our recent trip through PA and Va, looking at several Civil War Sites. Horses were docile, the wranglers were helpful, and the guide was not only knowledgeable but funny, too. Don't miss this tour. They go rain or shine, unless it's really severe: our trip was cold but mostly dry...rain would have been fun, too.

We started off on our 2 hr trail. 2 instructors and me and a friend. The instructors were so nice. One of them was very familiar about the area, which my friend enjoyed because she had lots of questions.. Anyways moving right along we were asked to stop to let the horses take a break and have a snack the... More

This tour was amazing. I took a friend and my two sons, 9&10. We rode the entire 2 hours. The guide was so knowledgeable and captivating. It was so much great information presented in a great way. We wore ear pieces so we could hear just fine. The kids had a blast and I would definitely recommend this for anyone... More

I paid for a guided (on horseback) tour of the battlefield for me and my friends from Utah. Unfortunately, when we got there I was advised that they could not find a guide. When I complained, I was then told that I had signed up for an audio tour, which I knew was not true. They made no attempt to... More

My 10 year old son and I did the 2 hour tour with a licensed guide. We made online reservations about a week prior. It was the best price of the 3 I investigated. Staff were friendly and professional. They gave an intro ahead of time whereas some places just put you on the horse with little instruction. The horses... More

I took the 2 hour battlefield tour on horseback with trainers, Katie and Tish and I have never had so much fun! Our guide was extremely thorough, telling about the preparation, battle and aftermath of Gettysburg while the trainers answered any question we had about the horses. They were very docile and was a bright start to my day!

My entire family did the confederate trails 2 hour horseback tour of the battlefields. Upon arrival, we were greeted and asked to sign waivers stating whether we want to wear helmets or not. Once everyone had signed waivers, we all got earpieces and audio boxes to be able to hear the guide throughout the tour. We all then got a... More

Overall an excellent tour. The Licensed Guides are very informative. The horses very gentile and the staff assist you on and off the horses. Your first given the option of helmet or sign the waiver. Then you get the audio earpiece. The trails through the battlefield is the same as the hikers but you get to ride and have the... More

We had a great time on this ride. My girls (11 & 13) loved the horses, and they got some history, too. I was much more interested in the history, and we were all happy. The guide was knowledgeable and it was such a unique experience to see the battlefield on horseback. The staff was so friendly and the horses... More
