The Turtle Back Zoo has been a beloved family destination for many years but is now better than ever! Renovations and modernized habitats make it a fun and interesting place to visit. There's even a steam train ride included in the admission as well as a carousel and pony rides for an additional fee. Fun for the whole family and... More

What a perfect day at the Turtle Back Zoo!! It has so much to offer to all with all the renovations making it bigger and better. It's so much fun and such a learning experience for all ages. The train ride is so refreshing and relaxing and the carousel, the kids just love it!! I would highly recommend planning a... More

The best kept secret around is the early childhood programs at the Turtle Back Zoo. I have brought my grandchildren to this wonderful zoo several times & now keep a keen eye out when they have special classes for the young ones. My grandson who is now 4 yrs old loved the Turtle Back Tots program (2 & 3 year... More

We took our three-and-a-half-year-old granddaughter and were delighted that our membership in the Detroit Zoo got us in for free. The train was free, too, and took us outside the zoo for a pleasant ride along the lake. The carousel was enclosed, in beautiful condition, and cost only $1 (or maybe $2) for the accompanying adult. Pony rides start later... More

Great little zoo for young kids. Get to the park early, parking lot fills quickly. Go on the train ride first and then to the stingray tank, because those are the popular places. Then stroll around. The petting area is very nice. The aviary is a must! Budget 1.5 to 2 hours, perfect for little ones. There's a tree top... More

Nice zoo - I like that there were other types of animals besides your usual run of the mill animals. We went specfically to see some of the bigger animals like the cougar, jaguar, and highland cattle. Understandably, some of the animals were not visible due to the colder weather like the birds (and the Autralian area was empty) but... More

I took my 3 yr old here last summer, we've seen the holiday lights previously, my older son has been here twice and I went when I was a child like 30-35 yrs ago. The day I went was so busy that we were parked out by the bus stop and a few people later the lots were blocked entirely.... More

Went to see the zoo lights tonight. Fun for the whole family. Carousel has lots of pretty animals including a dragon! Lots of the animals were on display in the dark. Tonight was free but the usual admission prices are reasonable.

A friend posted on FB about the great time he had at TBZ. We decided to take the hour plus drive on a mild Saturday night. Although the zoo was crowded, we all had a very nice night out. many of the exhibits are empty due to the season, but with the light displays and animals there both pre-teens, teens,... More
