It is a great theater! It is not overwhelming with its 300 or so seats, nice lobby cafe, convenient parking next door in Doubletree hotel. The tickets are reasonable due to a grant they received and there is a discount for students as well. They reach for somewhat ambitious repertoire and they assembled a good group of actors.Like everywhere in the... Although an ardent admirer of the work of Tom Stoppard, his snarky & solipsistic "The Real Thing" didn't speak to me. Still a visit to the Wilma on Avenue of the Arts, which loves Stoppard - with more on tap next season - is an opportunity to experience serious professional theatre up close. Post-performance matinee conversations in the lobby that... More

The Wilma theater specializes in Tom Stoppard and outdid themselves with the recent production of "The Real Thing". Well- directed, acted and staged it was riveting from beginning to end. Seating at the Wilma is universally comfortable and provides good site lines. The Wilma is only one of several great local theaters (The Arden, Suzanne Roberts and The Lantern come... More

Had the pure pleasure of spending an evening at Wilma Theater in Philly this week. What an amazing space, small venue and frienly staff and performers. It was almost like a private showing for us and a few close friends! In the heart of Avenue of the Arts, Wilma offers avante' garde, edgy and modern performances with a flair for... More

The home of Ballet X, a wonderful dance company. Theater is small so the dancers are wonderfully close. Also great ticket prices, subsidized--$100 for 4 different performances.

The dancers were very good. The music choices were appropriate for the Valentines Day weekend show. I do encourage others that want to experience a fun ballet.

Theater lovers should appreciate the existence of The Wilma. Always noted for superb theater - great play selections, exceptional productions and staging, spot-on selection of cast. Reasonably-priced, wonderful auditorium and full-view seating, its 4 yearly productions are creative and provide a wonderful live-theater experience.

Excellent acting, interesting stage sets, comfortable, close-in seating, friendly staff, always interesting, somewhat off-beat plays, and always with a social justice emphasis. That can get a bit predictable, but that's their mission.

Don't waste your money and time, unless you enjoy seeing good acting no matter how terrible the play. It's boring, the dialog is often unintelligible, and it has a couple of pretty disgusting scenes. Its worse offense, however, is that it has no redeeming value. There is nothing to be learned, no universal theme expressed, and makes no point. I... More

This theater definitely pushes boundaries and don't stick with conventional topics. Everything i've seen here has been extremely well done. The sets nearly always stand out as being unique and impressive in scale. Plays are always thought provoking.
