There is nothing spectacular about this refuge near the Philadelphia Airport - other than that it could coexist with such a large, noisy partner as an airport. On a pleasant autumn day, when the colors are changing or birds migrating it can make for a nice and liesurely walk for an hour or two.

I passed the signs for this place millions of times but never been there. Decided to check it out this weekend. Great place to take you kids too. Many interesting birds, plants, animals to see and to teach your kids about. Lots of different trails to explore. Even has a bridge that goes across the whole lake that you can... More

I was looking for a park with a lot of trails to run. I covered every trail, it wasn't too bad. They have markers that easily navigate you back to the either the main building or rt 420, and there are plenty of bathrooms throughout. If you are a local it's worth checking out, and it seems popular with grade-school... More

I live less than 5 miles from the refuge and have been there countless times for walks. It is a beautiful respite right in the middle of urban development; I-95 and the Philadelphia International Airport are the refuge's neighbors. You would never think that so many migratory birds, wetlands creatures and even deer would thrive in such an environment, but... More

My wife discovered this 'attraction' skimming through reviews on this very sight. We allowed 1.5 hours for it on the way out of Philadelphia and are glad that we did. There are some nice paths and lots of wildlife. We saw many different kinds of birds, turtles sunning on logs, groundhogs, and some bald eagles (from a distance). Would definitely... More

The Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum, (originally known as Tinicum Swamp), covering 1200 acres of wetlands and trails, is the largest freshwater tidal marsh in PA. Hard to access, but worth a trip any time of year, the refuge features easy hiking and trail biking loops, and interesting canoing/kayaking along Darby Creek (be sure to check the tides, which rise and...
