Ghost and vampire lore are explored, and language used by our guides is more than often not suitable for children or the prudish. A wide variety of topics include ghost hunting, serial killers, and gangsters to magick, Voodoo and brothels; riots, local pirates, and the Jersey Devil. Tours are offered by foot, tavern, and boat. Voted Best Philly tours and featured on Travel Chanel- we are open year round though offerings, hours, and departure change seasonally. « less

Joe makes learning about philly's dark past super fun while taking us around the city for libations. I really enjoy the fact that the tours go 'outside the box' from the typical historical tour, which could be quite monotonous. He makes things exciting and talks about everything in a way that makes you learn without realizing that you are learning.... More

Best tour I have ever been on. The tour guide, Joe, was extremely knowledgable and unforgettable. I learned a lot without getting tired of listening and laughed quite a bit. I would recommend this tour for anyone that just wants to get to know Philly a little bit more and then have a few drinks at the end! Definitely worthwhile,... More

Went with a group of people after work on a weeknight in October 2014. Our tour leader was Joe, an enigmatic and passionate storyteller who is also a local university professor. He had a lot of interesting stories about Halloween traditions, local ghosts, beer brewing, the founding fathers and the history of Philadelphia. He also isn't afraid to curse, so... More

Didn't learn much. Seemed to be more of an excuse to take you to local bars & party. Not worth the money. Participants broke off as they got bored.

This was a very interesting tour that covered some things the other historic tours in Philly don't. Our tour guide was a history teacher from New Jersey. Very charismatic, enjoyed spending the evening with him, can't say enough good things about him. He kept the tour upbeat and moving along, answered all of our questions, and handled the juggling of... More

This tour is a must for anyone looking to step out of the box and experience a different side of philly. For the tourist or local philadelphian, the tour provides laughs, gore and a glimpse into the macabre past of the area. The owner and our guide, Joe, was super knowledgeable, witty and the perfect amount of sick and twisted.... More

I had a great time on this tour. Joe really knows his stuff. A lot of times you'll encounter a tour guide who may know all there is to know about one particular subject, and not so much on related items. But I'd say that Joe IS "GRIM PHILLY!" He makes the tour worth every dime. He's charismatic, exciting, and... More
