We visited Macy's in downtown Philadelphia the Saturday before Christmas to catch the last Light Show extravaganza at 8 p.m. Although the Light Show and accompanying music were beautiful, the crowds surrounding us were pushing and shoving to get the perfect vantage point. We were glad we made it a point to see the show, but don't feel that we... More

I made a special trip down to Philly to see the light show and the store for Christmas. They did a nice job with the windows this year as they did in the New York store, very creative. The light show is a lot of fun and you should see it once. The only problem is that I had seen... More

For the last 2 years( incl this one- so last yr and this yr) Macy's has removed the red rug that all the kids used to sit and lay on to watch the lightshow! SHAMEFUL!!! My grandmother took me here every year growing up, and i have continued the tradition every year with my kids( who are 8) imagine our... More

I brought my wife who is from Ohio to see the light show that I used to come to when I was a child it was a very crowded and the store was very dirty I don't remember that when I was a child , Nice to see with kids but I would suggest seeing it from the third-floor balcony

We got there 20 minutes before the 2 PM Christmas lightshow, and it was already packed. Store employees had to keep moving around and announcing loudly that the aisles must remain clear. It was not exactly a festive atmosphere. The show itself was old fashioned, and that is some of the appeal, but it is not something I could recommend.... More

Our annual pilgrimage to Macy's (previously Wanamakers) continues for the holiday light show. It is a wonderful homage to time gone by. The live organ music at noon is wonderful and the lights offer a simplicity and simple joy. It is for the young and the young at heart. And you can shop for shoes when the show is over.

Macy's in Philadelphia is my favorite department store for so many reasons. Beyond the retail experience, there is an organist playing classical music during lunch hour on a pipe organ so huge I cannot describe it. During the holiday season, they have a light show at several intervals during the afternoon and it is just wonderful. It's a Macy's Philadelphia... More

I went to this Macy's to buy some pantyhose and some stockings. It's a huge Macy's and the light show with the organist is pretty awesome. The store looks like an old opera house so even when the organist is playing, it doesn't sound very loud (great acoustics) and it is pleasing to hear. A lot of people complained about... More

Poorly planned from start to finish. Overcrowded. Long lines. Safety hazard. If there was an emergency, people would likely die trying to get out of the store!! The show was too scary for little children. Many cried!!! Kids were terrorized. Dark and dreary. Skulls and coffins. Don't waste your time!!

I went into Macy's today in search of a dress to wear to a New Year's Eve wedding. When I finished shopping and went downstairs a huge line had formed in the middle of the store. Upon further exploration we thought we would find Santa at the end of that line. Instead we ran into the security guard who explained... More
