I must say this was one of the more disappointing visits to a fort that we've ever had. The grounds were not very clean. The overall condition of the buildings were in desperate need of repair. The history is of the fort is interesting. Perhaps during one of their re-enactments it could brings more life to the fort. It is... More

I've visited the fort 3 times and each time I have thoroughly enjoyed it. The price for admission is fair and you are able to free roam each building on your own time. It's a peaceful location (even though it's near the airport) and I love just being able to go into each of the buildings as well as walk... More

After having visited Fort Pulaski in Georgia and Fort McHenry in Baltimore (for the 200th anniversary), we found our trip to Fort Miflin to be quite a let-down. Admission for adults ithat day was $8.00. The website says $6 and $8 for special events,. You have to walk up the stairs of the visitors' center to purchase armbands. We asked... More

Fort Mifflin is a little south of Philly, next to the airport. We went on a Sunday and for the majority of the time, there was no one else there. Mary was our tour guide and walked us thru the fort and almost all of the buildings, explaining as she went about the function of the building, who lived in... More

If you're interested in revolutionary war and/or Phila. history, this is worth a trip. Still authentic buildings, unfortunately in an odd location requiring a car-yet close to downtown. Just a few minutes to the Phila. Navy Yard so the 2 can easily be combined.

We visited on a Sunday and practically had the fort to ourselves. There were some people cleaning up after a wedding, but other than that we only saw four other people visiting the fort. The fort is not difficult to get to, but more signage would be good. There are several restored buildings and a few exhibits, but this fort... More

Fort Mifflin is a significant piece of history and worth a visit. Built in the early 1770s, it remained in the hands of the military until the early 1960s when it was transferred to the City of Philadelphia. It seems to be supported by an historical association which may be a private group. There have been refurbishisment efforts at the... More

I took a bike ride starting at the Schulkill Banks over to Bartrums Garden and then out to Forth Mifflin. There was some road going, but the reward of Fort Mifflin was well worth it. It butts up against Philadelphia International Airport which has been trying to turn it into a runway for years. Go and support them!

We went to Fort Mifflin to see the WWII re-enactment. While that was very interesting while the battle was on, the fort itself isn't much. You can see the entire fort and it's buildings in an hour or less. As has already been written, a side benefit is seeing the planes flying very low here on their flight path to... More

Here's a spot that not many people know about. Fort Mifflin is a place that dates it's usage back through the 1700's. It was also used during WWII. It is really a cool place to poke your nose around. There are interesting details throughout the fort, like old magazine holds, and some neat buildings. Oh right, and it's haunted. Well... More
