Penn’s Landing, the waterfront site where William Penn docked, is now the great gathering place for outdoor events, especially in warmer weather. A variety of concerts, presentations and athletic events celebrate this waterfront area where history mingles with present-day pursuits.

Great lazy day hangout

I enjoy sitting by the water and reading if the weather is nice. It is a nice area to just stroll around if you have nothing better to do.

The sights are abundance and the nature's beauty fantastic. the waterway. You have the Mooshuloo and the Spirit Of Philadelphia to eat. Walk around. You have cabs and busses and the L (sub) takes you there.

I go here often because I have my own pair of ice skates (saves you $10) and I also have blue cross blue shield insurance (which gets you in for free!!!). It only costs me the subway trip there and back. Around christmas, there are lights and christmas music and it is very festive. There are campfires to cuddle around,... More

As I visited Philadelphia only once, I must admit I went to Penn's landing only for historical reasons. Its name indeed commemorates the landing of William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania in 1682 (Wikipedia quote ;-) ). It was not particularly beautiful or impressive but I think it was an interesting stop while visiting the city. It was relatively close... More

Walked around the port. Clean area. Quiet since it was December. There is a walkway listing all of Philly's first, as in Philly was the first to introduce mustard, root beer, rocking chair, etc. Also, on the top of the hill was the Irish Immigration memorial. This was very moving. There are plaques with the stories of the Irish immigration.

This is another great Philadelphia venue that over looks the Delaware River. I would also check out Spruce Harbor Park while you're in the neighborhood as well.

We walked, visited ships and subs, and came upon the winterfest - ice skating, free face painting, free balloon animals, free legos, free ice cream & free Dunkin Donuts coffee - all a great little unexpected treat!

That's the real appeal of this place. You can wander all around Penn's Landing and do nothing. You can stare off at Camden, the bridge, or preferably the ships docked there. It's a nice thing, that. Especially when nobody's there.

Cobblestone streets, easy and fun walking, fabulous restaurants. We went to see the tall ships there this summer, and it was a highlight of the summer. The only bad thing is finding a parking space. Be careful where you park. We saw them tow a car away, quick as a wink. It took less than five minutes.
