I went this summer when the Star Trek Exhibit was being shown. I had seen the Star Trek exhibit in San Diego, but was suprised to find that the two exhibits (although done by the same company) were different. The exhibit in San Diego was much more impressive. Nonetheless, I still had a great time wandering through the Insitute manipulating... more

When I was younger, I remember in elementary and middle school taking field trips to the Franklin Institute and having a awsome time....being young......I recently went there again, and wasn't as pleased. A lot of the displays and hands on stuff, seemed like it was there when I was a kid, a lot of it I actually thought I still... more

We took our children to The Franklin Institute recently and overall had a lot of fun. There is a lot to see/do, but many of the interactives in the exhibits are broken. The kids loved Sports Challenge and walking through the heart. Staff seemed somewhat non interested, but the person who sold us our tickets was very helpful. The admission... more

If you're an adult skip the Franklin Institute. I felt very few of the displays were at an adult level. You'd think a science museum of 2009 would have something interesting to say about global warming or alternative energy, but nothing. Nada. None-the-less, a good number of the "exhibits" are merely computer displays or text and photos on a piece... more

I am a big fan of all Star Trek shows and movies. We were in Philly for a couple of reasons and we made time for this as well. It costs $25 each for entry which is excessive for what it is. The displays are almost entirely costumes from various Trek shows or movie which is OK. Instead of telling... more

There was a young couple in front of us, when we reached the end the guy said to his girl friend said, That only took 15 minutes, did we miss something? Yep, that pretty sums it up. Very poor. Other than the recreation of the Next Generation Bridge, the only other stuff there were display cases of costumes and movie... more

Hubby and I are fans of the original series - and was sorely disappointed at the lack of coverage of it - most of the exhibit seemed to focus on Deep Space Nine! We had a 'that's it?" reaction when we found ourselves at the end of it. Very disappointing. We DID pay the extra $6 for the Star Trek... more

I am a nerd. You need to know this to put this review into context. If you are a nerd too, you will love the Franklin. On our visit May 22 2009, we saw the "Amazing Machine" exhibit (which will fascianate the engineers among you), a great planetarium show called "Space Collisions", the Medici exhibit with Galileo's hand made telescope... more

My husband and I took our girls (2 1/2 and 4 years old) to the Franklin Institute on a Friday, and were terribly disappointed. The only exhibits that had someone supervising them were the ones you had to pay for. The sport room, had a lot of fun things to do, but were all semi dangerous (a pitching range where... more
