Seeing it from a distance is special to drive up to it and walk around it leaves with a memory that you will never forget,you can see why the Indians worshipped this monument and to think natures awsome force pushed this rock to the surface is mind boggling. more

It was a long drive just to see this. We took pictures but didn't actually go into the national park. You could see it from quite a distance and then you kept getting closer. We loved this place! You can see it from miles away and it just keeps getting bigger the closer you get to it! You've seen pictures of this, or at least in the film, Close Encounters, but it is much more spectacular in person. It is so unique that it's worth the trip if you are anywhere in the area, including driving up from the Black Hills like we did.
