I visited Devil's Tower on Saturday, October 6th. It was a rather dreary day but perfect for viewing the tower and walking around it. It was not too hot or too cold and it wasn't crowded. There aren't many words to describe how amazing it is to see Devils tower from the road and then again from up close. It... more

This location holds special meaning to Native Americans and I can see why. It has a sort of magical appeal. We took the walk around the base and viewed the tower from different angles. The walk is mostly shaded and very peaceful (not many visitors while we were there on Oct. 3). The air is clean and fresh. There were... more

My wife was a little skeptical about going. "It's just a big rock, what's the deal?" But it turned out to be the best part of our Black Hills trip. We are by no means big hikers or outsdoor people, but we really enjoyed the 1.3 mile walk around the tower. The walk is almost entirely shaded (thank goodness because... more

After seeing Close Encounters of the Third Kind several times, there was no way we were skipping a visit to Devil's Tower. This is an amazing geological wonder. Rangers at the visitor center were most helpful. There is a paved 1 1/2 mile walk around the base of the tower (Tip: start your walk going to the right-clockwise around the... more

I would absolutely recommend Devils Tower. If you are traveling to/from Yellowstone N.P. (from the east) Devils Tower can be made into an easy stop. Or, if you are in the Black Hills, Devils Tower can be coupled in with a trip to Deadwood, or the Black Hills Passion Play (in Spearfish). Upon arriving to Devils Tower, the question you... more

Toured in June, 2007. A little history...Devil's Tower is the US's first National Monument having been designated by then President Roosevelt in 1906. The Tower is 865 feet high with the Visitor's Center at the base at an elevation of 4,250 feet. According to the brochure, the rocks and boulders all around the base of the Monument (including some larger... more

With roadmap open to Wyoming laying across my lap we set out to see the Devils Tower. It can be seen for miles before you get there. One of the most famed landmarks in Wyoming the brochure says. The attraction today is rock climbing. Climbers from all over the world come to climb just for the thrill of it, they... more

Anyone traveling across northern Wyoming or in the Black Hills of South Dakota nearby should definitely take the time and effort to get off the interstate and visit Devil's Tower. This natural landmark was the highlight of our ten-state vacation, even though we just stayed there a few hours. Simply an amazing natural wonder! more

We have been Devil Tower before. It was very hot, so we just took some pictures and left. We had a joyful weather this time, so we took the Tower Trail and enjoyed it. A little hint here is just take the 1/3 of this loop trail in counter-clockwise direction and come back. You will get maximum viewing pleasure and... more
