Iced over even in May...but lovely and an easy (and scenic) 10-minute drive from Mammoth Lakes. There are several pristine, mountain-rimmed lakes on the drive.

We just went on a short trip up to Mammoth to spend time exploring and hiking the area. We stayed during the first week of november and it was gorgeous. The Lake Mammoth area is beautiful and scenic enough and then we happened upon Lake Mary during a drive on Lake Mary Road last week. This small lake is stunningly beautiful with crystal clear water, like most of the bodies of water in this area.
