The rangers can help you with everything from where to buy gas to local weather facts and where to go hiking. There is a nice little gift and post card assortment at decent prices.

Books, posters, patches and pins, this place has it all, including a friendly and knowladgeable staff. Get your wilderness permits here, maps of the back country or free town map, directions to motels or campgrounds or information on just about anything.

Very helpful staff who can answer most relevant questions and give very helpful suggestions, with good variety of maps and literature, plus souvenirs. Great place for newcomers to get oriented.

The visitor center is staffed by members of the US Forest Service who can provide you with lots of information about the natural landmarks and features of the area. They also issue wilderness permits for those seeking to go overnight into the Inyo National Forest.

Large selection of books and info on the surrounding area. Also, this is where you pick up your permit for overnight backpacking.
