Not only did we have fun strolling around the Village of the Arts, we actually spent money! On the negative side, it was a very hot day, and some of the studios are not air conditioned. On the other hand we saw (and purchased) a few things we hadn't seen before. It probably is more comfortable during season, but we... More

So enjoy the once a month "Arts Walk". Many mediums & nice sampling of wines & appetizers throughout. Get your GPS coordinates on their website if you are not familiar w/Bradenton. I go every year when we are visiting from up "nawth".

On a Saturday at noon there were many closed businesses including the bakeries. The "art" galleries are mostly rundown houses painted brightly with mediocre crafts that are not worth buying. Lots of recycled trash art and brightly colored pieces. We drove 30 mins to get here and were very disappointed

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts, we are disappointed that you didn't have a positive experience. It is true that not everyone is open all the time. We do keep an updated website where individual businesses list their hours, www.villlageofthearts.com. We are a unique arts village made up of businesses, residences, studios, restaurants, boutiques and more. Some... More

I love the Village of the Arts. Perfect? No. Are galleries always open? No. It's quirky and different. A wonderful oasis in this age of uniformity and chain shops. Charming bungalows painted in vibrant colors and great restaurants too!

Don't go here during most of the summer months as a lot of the shops are closed. Those you can find open are very intriguing albeit expensive at times. Great place to go and walk around, but shoot for the fall. Nice little restaurants too.

KrazyKoko, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on the Village of the Arts. We appreciate your feedback. The dog days of summer are a time when some of our business owners take time to travel, reset their creativity buttons and spend time with family. We're sorry not every business was open for you to enjoy on your... More

I probably found this "village" via tripadvisor/things to do. From the pictures, it looked like a quaint/quirky place to spend some time. Please don't waste your time as we did! It is run-down and we were afraid to even stop the care. Area is very poor, shabby, and gives you an uncomfortable feeling.

Marsha K, Ouch! We appreciate your honesty, but it is hard to hear this about our community. Residents and business owners have been working hard since 1999 to restore this community and make it a special place. Like many communities we have seen our fair share of foreclosures and delinquent properties pop up, but we are working hard with the... More

Many reviews of the Village are right on to say that it can be hard to find shops and dining open during the regular hours of the day. While this is unfortunate, and certainly does not help build its popularity, its monthly art walks are very special. Check the calendar for dates and times of these evening events, that is... More

Sunblossom26, thanks for taking the time to share your comments on the Village, we appreciate your support. We agree our artwalks are super special and we get fantastic feedback from people who attend. Many of artwalks now have a special theme and we are always working to have more events. We do struggle with providing a consistent daily experience. Many... More

My wife dragged me here because she read about it in a magazine at our hotel. It was not much of anything and little was open. Weird little shops. Maybe not a guy kind of a place. Too bad we spent the one day when the grandparents had the kids at this place. Not exactly the "urban renewal" we read... More

Captain Mike 55, we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience in The Village of the Arts. A couple of galleries do have "hubby chairs"! Some of our couples split up and say one will take in a spring training game, the other will visit the Village and then they will meet later. Coming soon is a new... More

I hope that the Village of the Arts will live up to all the hype, but for now, I is not worth your time. Most of the galleries/shops/eateries are open few hours, and not at the same time. So, if you go for a visit during the day, not much will be open. I also agree with the other reviewer... More

Maggie A, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Village of the Arts. Your feedback helps us. Great news to share is that the team behind Riverwalk is now working plans for the Village of the Arts area (14th Street CRA). A community meeting held earlier in the year had over 200 people in attendance! The plan is in final... More
