Served by most helpful staff in the pro shop and made very welcome. Early summer morning the course was busy but moving the etiquette of golf being followed. Would highly recommend this course based on its value for money and the challenges of alligator occupied ponds! Downside, antiquated system of providing drinking water on the course, nevertheless worth playing.

If you're in the Sarasota area, look no further than The River Club for a wonderful course. Beautifully maintained, great service, friendly, and all the challenge most players can handle. If anyone has a complaint with this place for $26 they haven't played a whole lot of golf courses.

I read a lot of reviews on this place, so I came in with reservations to say the least. Mostly in regards to staff. My experience was good. Check in was smooth and a gentlemen met us half way to the clubhouse to pick us up and grab our bags. Gave us some direction as well. Counter staff were fine... More

Although the greens and fairways were maintained the roughs had not been touched in a long time. A culture of bad manners and a sense of entitlement on the part of members left us stunned. The Marshall made no effort to maintain order. One walker held up the entire course playing multiple balls while twosomes frog leaped around us saying... More

Fun course from the blues...a little over 6400 yards. Would highly recommend the course. Staff was freindly. Only suggestion is a little better mapping bewteen holes. Almost got lost a couple of times. Absoluting on the play again list. Great price,$25.

Attended a wedding in March and everyone was so accomadating and friendly.....they even helped grandma out to ceremony by giving her a ride in the golf cart. Dinner was amazing and the bartender was very nice. The guys loved playing golf for the day and we turned a day into a weekend it was so nice there.

Play numerous times a year. First the hierarchy of some local courses: Class B – The Legacy, Waterlefe, River Strand; Class C – River Club, Stoneybrook, Tara Preserve; Class D – Rolling Green, Saranova. Class A would be The Concession which I will never be able to afford. So going here knowing that you are golfing a “C” golf course,... More

My wife and I have played this course many times. In high season, like many, it's not a pleasant experience but that's not the fault of the Club as it's demand driven. In these situations we felt that they were trying to overload the course which results in play so slow that you want to walk off the course. In... More

I found the River Club to be a very well managed, well kept course. The layout is very pretty, challenging buy fair. Greens are tough -- small and firm -- hard to hold and heavily sloped with many breaks. Although there is a lot of water on the course, it does not normally come into play with reasonably accurate shots.... More
