This great museum is really a three-for-one ticket to the Florida Gulf Coast past, present and future. Snooty, 66 years old, is the oldest living manatee in captivity, and the star attraction in the small public aquarium at this facility which is part of the Florida rehabilitation facilities for manatees. The staff gave an information presentation and were open to... More

I wanted to love the place, but I guess it was just the day and time I visited. We went for Snooty's birthday celebration and it was packed!!! That's a good thing for Museum, but it made it really difficult to see anything. Plus, we didn't get a good view of the main attraction himself, Snooty. There were parts of... More

Whenever I'm in the area I make a point to visit here. The history is great but the highlight of a visit to South Florida Museum is Snooty the loveable Manatee. The talk you get about Snooty and Manatees is very interesting.

We've lived in Florida for ten years and only recently heard about this great place. It's really three attractions in one with a museum, planetarium, and small aquarium. Parking is very convenient and if you get there early enough you can park right in front. The exhibits are very informative and the museum itself is larger than we expected. The... More

Good, varied exhibits covering many aspects of South Florida history and make time for a planetarium show or two. Above all go to see the manatees - such gentle creatures

My family and I always visit when we are in Florida. There is a lot of info on the history of the area, and a great planetarium with shows narrated by Tom Hanks and Jodie Foster! Of course, the main event is snooty. It's great to see him, and I hope he's around for many years to come! Well worth... More

We LOVE visiting the South Florida Museum and come every time we visit Florida from our home in Scotland! The museum is very interesting and there are many varied exhibits . It's great for both adults and kids! The star attraction is definitely Snooty the manatee and his friends. You see them being fed and there is a presentation telling you... More

This is the second time I have visited the South Florida museum. Until late August there is a very interesting exhibit about coffee(Coffee: The World in Your Cup). Besides that, the exhibitions about Florida's cultural history are interesting and informative. The exhibitions cover Florida's history from the dinosaurs until now. The museum also has a lot of information about Florida... More

The planetarium was closed when we visited so there was a reduction in the price of the ticket. In a way I was glad it was closed because there was so much to see in the museum and I was getting into information overload. The museum looks at the natural and cultural history of Florida. It has exhibits from the... More

Loved Snooty the manatee and the DaVinci exhibit. Surprised at all that there is to do. The Planetarium was also awesome.
