My daughter insisted that we see this cemetery when visiting her at the university. It is by far the most beautiful setting for a cemetery that one could imagine. It is quite hilly with gorgeous views of Dayton. The flowers and trees are lovely. The cemetery itself is like a "who's who" in Dayton as many famous Daytonians are buried... More

What a beautiful cemetery. The Wright Brother's grave was pretty easy to find. Erma Bombeck was a little more difficult, it is a challenge for the day. This is very well kept, hills, lots of people walking thru the area.

We went specifically to see the Wright Brothers plot. There are a few other famous people buried here as well. It is a nice cemetery, but make sure you have a map if you are looking for something in particular. We had picked up a map at a different historical site in Dayton ahead of time. I imagine they have... More

One of the largest (and most scenic) cemeteries in Ohio, Woodland is the permanent home of the Wright family (Orville, Wilbur, Katharine, etc.), Paul Laurence Dunbar, Charles Kettering (in the mausoleum). James Cox and many other luminaries and recognizable (streets named after them) names like Huffman, Shroyer, Ritty, Patterson, Vallangiham, etc. Popular columnist Erma Bombeck has a large boulder brought... When this cemetery was established, it was many miles from the city. Now, it's a part of the downtown area--adjacent to University of Dayton. Pick up a brochure and visit the graves of many famous people including Paul Laurence Dunbar, the Wright Brothers, and others. Learn the story of the tiny boy who drowned--and his dog was unable to save... More

Beautiful place. Many trees. We found the graves of the Wright Brothers. Could not find Erma Bombeck.

This cemetery is a beautiful, serene arboretum with trees, sculpture and lots of history to fill hours of exploring. Many famous people including the Wright brothers are here. If you enjoy history, learning and exploring, plan on spend time here.

This is an interesting historical cemetery meant to be visited and enjoyed. Look at their web site for an explanation of the famous people, the way it was enjoyed in the past and where to find graves. The Wright Brothers are here as is a real queen. The little boy with the dog memorial is immediately to your right as... More

Woodland is my favorite place in the Miami Valley to stroll through a who's who of historic Dayton. It's an absolutely beautiful, hilly, tree filled giant piece of history. Most people wouldn't consider a cemetery as a place to visit, but this is a MUST SEE! there are so many famous historic figures here from the Wright Brothers to Erma... More
