We came right at 8:00 a.m. when the office opened. The woman working in the office was helpful and friendly. We picked up a map that showed locations of many grave sites as well as the names and locations of many of the trees. We also checked out a CD that allowed us to drive around the cemetery and get... We had a little difficulty finding the Wright Family graves but while we were looking we saw a beautiful cemetary...lots of trees and beautiful flowers. We did find the burial plot and it seemed a little overgrown. But if you are a Wright Bros buff you need to see this.

Most find going to a cemetery a bit morbid, or a place to pay your respects. Not only can you pay your respects, you can tour this fantastic cemetery and see local people who helped define Dayton's history. Be sure to stop by the office and pick up a tour map to see all the graves. Climb your way to... More

Tons of history in this place, you could spend all day looking at the unique stones and taking in the great view from the overlook.

Unless you're crazy superstitious.... This is such a lovely walk in a park with trees and flowers and a cute gazebo overlooking downtown Dayton ---- best viewpoint in the city. Everything seems so beautiful and peaceful.....

I am not really a 'visit graveyards' type but my husband and I went to Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum to see the Wright Brothers graves and get a stamp on our Aviation Trail Passport. Anita (whose office is in the lovely chapel) suggested that we borrow a CD from the office and take the tour (we drove it). The tour... More

This cemetery is peaceful and picturesque, perfect for a leisurely walk or a local history lesson. At the top of the hill, you get a fantastic view of Dayton. They occasionally offer guided walking tours. You need to sign up in advance. I went on the halloween one and it was a great experience. Check the website.

Beautiful historical cemetery set on the highest point in Dayton. Well-preserved via Foundation. Burial place of famous Daytonians, including the Wright Brothers, Erma Bombeck, et al. Historical trees and landscape on interesting hilly terrain.
