Ventura misses the mark when it comes to being a beach city. It could be great, but it is not. It does have great surf and wind for kite boarders. The City needs to get a handle on its transients before I could ever recommend it.

Really long. Average pier but no arcade gets it a 4th star! Also has great views of surfers point and boardwalk.

Stunningly beautiful beach front alongside a nice town with great restaurants and shopping. I ran a marathon here with the starting/finish line beginning at the pier and running down through Oxnard.

It's rather windy! At the beginning of the pier we enjoyed delicious Beach House Tacos in a sheltered picnic area for customers. (The restaurant next door looks pretty pricey.) Then as we walked 1/3 mile to the end of Ventura Pier we loved the pictures and interesting descriptions of local history and sea life on info boards placed along the... More

It's just a pier, but the longest I've been on. It seems like it stretches for an eighth of a mile at least. We enjoyed watching the sunset and the late afternoon fisher folk were colorful. There was a huge seal at the end of the pier begging for fish and that was cool.

We are here every sunday to walk the dogs and watch the surfers do their thing. Great place, eclectic people, great restaurants. Beautiful view. Love the old pier. Very relaxing spot.

I grew up in Ventura, and while this is not the absolute pier and beach experience of my childhood, it is a beautiful place and I enjoy walking, combing the beach, and hanging out on the promenade because of what this holds out in both past and present experiences that are all good! I must say, I do wish that... More

It's funny...I plan all my trips using Trip Advisor. For the first time, we took a trip that did not live up to our expectations. I clearly didn't read enough reviews. We were not at all impressed with Ventura. Oxnard wasn't a whole lot better. (Usually my reviews on here are raving reviews because I've read so much about the... More

Lots of good eateries, scenery and a great place for a long walk. Plenty of homeless people but usually not an issue.

The restored Ventura pier is wide and long and best of all free! The pier is wide enough that the fishermen do not get in the way of the pedestrians and the views from the entire length of the coastline are unbelievable! Don't miss the fish restaurants at the beach end of the pier, they are outstanding!
