Who knew that if one hopped in one's car in Los Angeles and headed north on the 101 Freeway, one would discover a cute yet cool; hip and happening place that is downtown Ventura. My wife and I loved this place. Here are a few criteria that a place needs to win our love: #1 the absence of chains. By... More

The Ventura promenade reveals beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The city could do a better job regulating the Pan Handlers and homeless situation that exists along to promenade. It is hard to go more than 100 feet without being harassed for money or have undesirable comments thrown your way. Too bad it is a very beautiful place.

Walking on the Ventura pier and Promenade is fun. We often take the bridge from Spencer Mackenzie's fish taco restaurant, over highway 101, to the pier and promenade. Easy walking. You can watch surfers as you go north on the promenade. Going south takes you to the state beach and Pierpont beach. However, if you are looking for shopping or... More

We had just eaten at Sambos & then drove out unto the pier. That was kind of cool & if you buy anything at a shop or eat place you can get a stamp & parking is free. Wish we'd had some time to eat out here. Folks were fishing & kayaks were going by. I imagine it would be... More

Taking a walk on the pier with the wind and the ocean smells, are second to none. Nice place to visit and take in the beauty. You will not forget it.

Take a walk out to the end of the pier and enjoy the surfers and waves. Or walk the promenade. A snack or dinner at Beach House Fish on the pier, at sunset, is the perfect end to the day. Then head to downtown Ventura for music, theater or a movie.

I have always liked walking to the end of a long ocean pier. The smell of the ocean is like smelling fresh clothes out there. The view inland is also awesome. You can see what fish are being caught, or bring your own tackle to take a try. It is ALL FREE on the Ventura Pier. Parking close by may... More

I spent so much time here growing up, it was great to get back. Great pier that has been upgraded with a nice resturant and easy access to the promanade

This was once, supposedly, the longest wooden pier in Ventura. If it was, an El Nino storm took care of that. When the City rebuilt it, they added informational signs about local wildlife. It is still sufficiently long for great views of Ventura.
