I was entirely impressed by the whole operation at Island Packers. They are friendly and well organized. We drove one and a half hours to catch a 9:30 am boat trip. From the time we walked in the door, we knew that this was a well run company. They were able to handle crowd control well without the patrons dealing... More

Took boat out on July 14th and the boat was supposed to leave 10 a.m. We didn't leave until 10:20 a.m. which is lame. There is not much to do on the island other than kayaking and hiking. Suggest you rent a kayak- be sure you make reservations way before you plan on leaving. There is ZERO cell service on... More

We took this trip and were extremely pleased with the overall experience. The check-in was extremely easy. I did not have a printout but had my confirmation number on my phone and that was enough. The boat took off on time and within no time, we saw California sea lions resting just outside the harbor. Later, I was told that... More

During the phone call I made to make the reservation I was repeatedly reprimanded for asking questions about the islands and the activities they offer. I was told that there was no kayaking allowed on the island we chose to go to however we arrived to find that we had been lied to. We asked to speak to a manager... More

We were going to the island for a day of hiking and I thought this would be a transportation trip only. The boat was really full with boy scouts and others that were staying for a few days. I do not know how they got all the people and all the gear onboard, but they did and the boat was... More

The boat was clean and the crew were professional. We set out to see blue whales and see the Channel Islands along the way. We didn't see any blue whales on this trip but we did see many humpback whales! The whales put on quite a show for us, lunge feeding, tail slapping, and pectoral fin slapping! It was amazing!... THE ANIMALS: My objective was to see humpbacks, as I got to see blue whales in Long Beach. We saw a LOT of humpbacks, at least 30, some of which swam very close to the boat. None breached that I saw, but they were busy feeding. And wherever they were, so were a bunch of birds, dolphins and occasionally sea... More

We have been out several times now. Crew knew safety, boat was clean. Captain's observations from the bridge offered a lot of insights into the animals we were watching. Have gone out to look at whales, and done the day trip to Anacapa Island.

We did a day trip to santa cruz island for the sea kayaking. It was only us and a family of 5 on the tour so that was nice. We bought our ferry tickets through the company so you just check in in ventura and board the ferry enjoy the ride we saw sea lions but some people see whales.... More
