We happened to be at both the last performance of a Shakespeare comedy and the last performance of a Shakespeare tragedy in the Adams Shakespearean Theater this past weekend. Each performance was amazing in itself. And each of the two ended with a special ceremony honoring the theater and the past productions. The cast from Taming of the Shrew came... More

Those were bittersweet evenings for all of us. So glad you were a part of it, and we hope you can join us next year in the Engelstad Shakespeare Theater's first season. More

This historic theater is now closed because it is not up to code. It is scheduled to be demolished. A new multi-million dollar venue is being constructed scheduled to open for the 2016 season.

Yes, we officially closed the Adams Shakespearean Theater September 5, 2015. The Engelstad Shakespeare Theater, slated to open in spring of 2016 is modeled very closely after the Adams with some great improvements for the artists and audience. Better accessibility, great sight lines to the stage and more space backstage are among the reasons for the change, but the size... More

I am sad to see this theater closing after this season because there is nothing like seeing Shakespeare's plays performed in a setting similar to that of the Globe Theater in London. This historic theater will always be my favorite place to see a show.

Modeled after the Globe Theatre near London, this is probably the closest replica of the original Globe Theatre that exists anywhere in the world. Even the Royal Shakespeare Company from England came here to do a TV special on this theater. It is an amazing place. Sitting here and watching Shakespeare in the evening it's something we've been doing for... More

Watching plays in this theatre makes me feel like we really are in the times of Shakespeare. I can't think of a better place to watch Shakespeare, unless it starts raining... and they make you go inside... and then it stops raining... and you go back outside... and the play takes an extra hour and a half...:)

Thanks for your review. We are very excited for our new Engelstad Shakespeare Theater will afford more rain covering for both the actors and audience during those rare summer evening thunderstorms. More

Attending the Shakespeare Festival is my favorite addictive habit. Everything about the Shakespeare Festival is well done - Orientation, Green Show, productions, additional lectures, workshops, hosts and hostesses, outdoor flags and lights and flowers, everything. Nothing is mediocre. Every detail is perfected. I recommend this to everyone.

We love attending plays at this authentic theater and look forward to the new Shakespeare theater. We are VERY disappointed that they are not planning on a retractable room for the new theater.

We are also very disappointed that the roof is not in the current design, but we have not given up on it. Thanks for letting us know how important it is to you. More

I really liked the feel of being in a real Shakespearean Theater. The stage is visible from everywhere I have sat. Sometimes it's a little cold though, since it is outside, so bring a jacket.

This venue is gaining worldwide recognition for the quality of it's productions and it is easy to see why. There has been much work and effort into making this a quality destination. Ticket prices can be seen at the website but range from about $50 and up, though they do have 2 for one performances, senior discounts and more. Currently... More

Thanks for your comments. We are really excited about the new Beverley Taylor Sorenson Center for the Arts, which you mentioned. It is slated to be ready to go for our 2016 season, and it will include a new outdoor Shakespearean theater, SUMA (the Southern Utah Museum of Art), and a smaller performance space, in addition to the current Randall...
