Very nice place. Not like the bad reviews say. Lots of shaded areas and lots to see here. Loved the monkeys.

Well reading the reviews for this small zoo were very discouraging! We visited on a Sunday with my family. The zoo is clean except for the port a potties! Keep in mind that they are what they are. The bathroom facility inside the gift shop was clean. The staff we encountered were friendly and knowledgeable about the animals and the... More

We decided to take my handicapped mother-in-law to the zoo for the day. We should have known not to go when we could only find two handicapped parking spots, both of which were full. At the window when we bought tickets we asked if the park was handicapped accessible, and the young lady assured us that it in fact was.... More

We spent over 5 hours here and had a great time. We arrived early and had time to checkout most of the animals before the "extras" started at 11 am. The safari ride was nice and they provided bread to feed the buffalo. At the 2nd & 3rd stops, you could purchase popcorn to feed the animals; reasonable at $1... More

Saturday, July 4, a friend and I visited this zoo. The zoo was not crowded probably because it had rained all morning. Our first stop was the restroom (2 old ladies after a one hour drive), the restrooms were very clean. We then wandered around the zoo, delighting in the tropical birds, enjoying the lemurs, admiring the white tigers and... More

Let me start with the positives. First, if you're in the Frederick area, it's a short drive. It will keep the children occupied for a couple of hours. Well, that's about it. When going there, don't expect too much, you'll only leave the doors wide open for disappointment. Finding food or drink is nearly impossible on most days. You will... More

I have passed this zoo hundreds of times and I finally decided to take my 3 year old daughter on fathers day. I expected a tiny zoo with but I this is no little zoo. It is on par in size with the National Zoo in dc, it may even be bigger, just no elephants The zoo also was also... More

Spent a few hours with the Grandkids. They were 10 & 6. They each liked different aspects but had a pleasant day.

I took my four-year old grandson here on a very cloudy day. I was looking for something that would have a variety of animals, but within a walkable area. This place was pretty much perfect for that. The animals that they had tended to be more in the reptile area, smaller and easier to maintain. There were a lot of... More

-- This was a surprisingly sophisticated and well stocked zoo. Thank goodness this zoo was here, after seeing the disappointing Catoctin Furnace. In May the weather was perfect, the animals were out. Bengal Tiger, alligators, cobras, tropical birds, chimps, camels, great white wolf, exotic snakes, a walk-in tropical bird enclosure where you can hand feed bright colored birds, and more.... More
