I have passed this zoo hundreds of times and I finally decided to take my 3 year old daughter on fathers day. I expected a tiny zoo with but I this is no little zoo. It is on par in size with the National Zoo in dc, it may even be bigger, just no elephants The zoo also was also... More

Spent a few hours with the Grandkids. They were 10 & 6. They each liked different aspects but had a pleasant day.

I took my four-year old grandson here on a very cloudy day. I was looking for something that would have a variety of animals, but within a walkable area. This place was pretty much perfect for that. The animals that they had tended to be more in the reptile area, smaller and easier to maintain. There were a lot of... More

-- This was a surprisingly sophisticated and well stocked zoo. Thank goodness this zoo was here, after seeing the disappointing Catoctin Furnace. In May the weather was perfect, the animals were out. Bengal Tiger, alligators, cobras, tropical birds, chimps, camels, great white wolf, exotic snakes, a walk-in tropical bird enclosure where you can hand feed bright colored birds, and more.... More

The poor animals kept in this zoo look extremely dirty and sad. They need to be rescued and put in a facility where they can receive proper care and attention. The overall condition of this zoo is tacky, shabby, and dirty. The leopard cage was so small, the leopard was suffering such emotional trauma he just paced back and forth... More

We have taken our 6 year old granddaughter here on two separate occasions. It is an afternoon favorite. The preserve isn't anything fancy and doesn't have lots of bells and whistles like a large zoo. They have a large selection of exotic animals, reptiles, birds, a petting zoo and camel rides. It's a fun way to spend the day and... More

We spent over three hours inside the zoo grounds and it is clean and had some great animals. The staff were super-helpful. They have camel rides and a cool safari drive in the back of an open truck (with seats). There are snack bars and covered picnic areas.

My 6 year old son loved this place. He really liked the alligator man and the small alligator he let the kids touch. Check the schedule to make sure you don't miss the alligator if you go. It wasn't crowed. It was easy to get around the small zoo.

I've reviewed this zoo before somewhat unfavorably. I wish I could say it has gotten better, but that would be a lie. It has become a family tradition to go here once a year with our 3 children, now ages 4, 5 and 7. They still seem to enjoy it, so we will continue to come back every year until... More

While it doesn't have as much as the National Zoo nearby, Catoctin has a lot to offer. There are so many exhibits, and animals appear to have a good amount of space & are happy (except for the wolves, but I'm no animal expert). The monkeys are very interactive; I could watch them for hours! My niece's favorite part was... More
