It's the mid 1990s. MC Hammer is a respected figure in the musical community, and Lion King debuts on Broadway to justified critical acclaim. It shows in the spectacular New Amsterdam Theatre, an Art Nouveau gem. Fast forward to today: The play, unaltered for technological advances in the theatre world, has moved to the nasty 1970s pit Minskoff (consistently rated... More

My husband and I were in dispute over which show to go to as it was our first time on Broadway. I had wanted to see Phantom and he the Jersey Boys, so we compromised with the Lion King! Neither of us were disappointed, we thought it was a very polished and professional production with amazing costumes. We loved the... More

What a show. The opening scene was just breathtaking. The whole show was like a dream. I can see why the Lion King has been running for so long. Definitely one of my highlights from my recent trip to New York.

Great story, great performers and very visual with excellent costumes and performers use the entire theatre. Limited restroom capacity especially for women. Located right by Times Square so it can be nice to walk around Times Square after an evening show.

I had wanted to see this show for many years and it lived up to my expectations! I was amazed at fhe way they portrayed the characters, the quality of the music, singing, costumes, story line. Great show!

I booked for the Lion King 4 rows from the stage on the aisle. I thought since my hubby and I had never been to Broadway we needed to splash out on an experience we both valued. This show is an African extravaganza!!!! We were in tears in the opening act and we were completely absorbed by the show. The... More

The puppets aren't like those of Sesame Street. They are THE reason this is such an engaging production, although who doesn't love the Father and Son story?

It was the best musical I have ever seen. It was a celebration for my 60th birthday. I was uncertain what I wanted to see but I am so glad we picked Lion King. The music was superb, the sets were awesome and no sooner had I sat down, it was over, which says it all, it was over before... More
