My wife and I booked this tour and we're looking forward to the experience. Unfortunately we feel the whole thing was a bit of a sham. The guide was late turning up. They were really disorganised, didn't know who had paid etc. After church we had the 'tour' ! The level of knowledge Andi has might be great but we... More

We at Harlem Heritage Tours are very apologetic that the reviewer didn't enjoy our tour of Harlem. We always aim to please and when we don't it's something that we take very seriously. We have worked hard to build a solid business and have much respect and appreciation for those who take our tours and would never rip anyone off.... More

The tour included visiting Malcolm X Blvd, Apollo Theatre, and a Gospel Church visit. The Gospel Choir - ARC (Adddicts Rehabilitation Centre) - was outstanding. Just like Sister Act lol.

This is a must do. The cultural experience was superb and visiting the church was very moving. The whole tour was so memorable due to our fantastic guide, Andi - whom is 88 years young. If you want the genuine Harlem experience this is the one.

This tour was excellent. Our tour guide actually grew up in Harlem so he saw first hand the changes over the years. That was really interesting.

Neal Shoemaker is a class act. A spellbinding story teller. Generous with his knowledge, enthusiastic, warm, funny, and engaging. This was one of the best travel experiences I have had in decades. The church service was deeply moving. We were made to feel welcome. Neal's commentary, insights, and sense of time, history and place are laudable. Our discussion about basketball,... More

Neil Shoemaker grew up in Harlem and is devoted to preserving the history of his community. His walking tour provides a wealth of insight into the rise, fall, and re-birth of Harlem from the turn of the century up through the present day. Shoemaker's personal experience is of particular interest in exploring the buildings and streets that are the setting... More
