If you're looking for a great view over New York, Top of the Rock is a good and cheap(er) alternative to Empire State Building. The view is spectacular and comes with a great view over Central Park (that ES does not offer). Lines are reasonable and the elevator to the 72nd floor is an experience in it self.

We went up to the top of the rock around 10:30. The views are great, but honestly, some people in our party enjoyed the lift ride up even more. It was unexpected and great fun to watch! The staff were very efficient, and able to control the vast amount of people visiting this building. Queues were never longer than 5... More

We had been recommended to do the Top of the Rock from a friend and how right she was, the views are spectacular. The view of Downtown with the Empire State building in perspective is stunning. We were lucky enough to get a clear views all the way from Central Park to Downtown. Also having 3 levels ensured that there... More

I booked tickets on-line prior to arriving in NYC. Loved the ease of it! Based on suggestions from other reviews on Trip Advisor, we wanted to be at the Top of the Rock when the sun set. After a little research, had an average time of when the sun would set and booked tickets for 6:55 p.m. Note, if you... More

Maybe the biggest disappointment from my visit to NYC. I really don't get why this is so popular. Everybody told me to visit the Top of the Rock. Me and my girlfriend visited it by night. The highlight of the visit was the elevator to the top which has a glass rooftop and a light show so you can see... More

Enjoy a breathtaking view of New York City including the Empire State Building! The line was quite long but it didn't take that long for us to get in. It took us 10 minutes before we rode the lift and another 43 seconds to reach the top! Buy tickets on line to help you save time.

Loved this attraction, particularly the ride to the top! But if you're scared of heights, there's plenty to see and do at ground level. It is very well run and staff are very helpful. A must do!

Good view, and the service was fairly slick (after we'd bought our tickets - it was frustrating that, on the Sunday night of Labor Day weekend, so few cashiers were on duty), but it's still an expensive elevator ride. The signage to Rockefeller plaza and within the building itself is absolutely hopeless: forget about finding your way around easily if... More

Top of the Rock was crowded at night so we went at 8 in the morning when it opens. We had a great view of the city. We missed the crowds which was awesome and enjoyed our views. Also, a ticket to the top is part of the City Pass. I would recommend as an early activity.

The view from the Top of the Rock is amazing. You can see Central Park, Empire State building (which you don' see by going up the Empire State Building). There are three levels and many view points. You won't be disappointed.
