I always tell people to visit here rather the Empire State Building - it's free, it takes 1/20th (or less) of the time and I think you can see just as much. A nighttime viewing is especially enjoyable.

The views from the observation deck are quite simply amazing. There are several different platforms to view from and you get a great view of the whole of New York.

Great views on a clear day. Tix were easy to book online and we came at the designated hour and didn't have to wait which was great. Location is very good since it is closer to central park and the MOMA and is practically on 5th ave. so it is easy to combine with other attractions.

We were very lucky to go to the top of the Rock during the day as well as at night. The lines are not hectic and you don't wait very long to get up there. Everyone told us to go up the Empire State building at night because its higher than the The top of the Rock but I am... More

Incredible views! There is a small museum while you wait in line which is very informative. Go early in the day to avoid long lines!

Personally I found the whole going to the top of buildings thing a little dull and overpriced. You won't be short of impressive Manhattan views when you visit New York, so perhaps do one of the tall buildings.

We were at TOTR on a cloudy day and had pre-booked tickets for 9am. Thankfully no rain, and zero queue! The staff informed us the view was limited due to weather, but it was still breathtaking and well worth it! The best part is, you can see Empire State Building for that quintessential New York view, and you certainly can't... More

There’s not much to say here, that has not been said before. The view from the top of this Rockefeller centre is just stunning. We were there on a clear day and the opportunity for photo taking and admiring the city from this vantage point was amazing. I love taking photos and as such I was looking for intersections with... It was kind of expensive, but the view was wonderful. I don't think I'll go there again, but it was brilliant for people who love photography.

Enjoyed the view very much; much less crowded than the Empire State Building which was a zoo. The Top of the Rock is another perspective of the Manhattan Skyline. The Walk through tour was enjoyable.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
