Originally born and bred in Brooklyn, I can never remember a time when Zabars wasn't part of our lives. Living in upstate NY for almost 50 years, I keep in touch online and every time I am in the City. Their cheese department is outstanding and the people helping you actually know the subtle differences between the a 6 month... More

Service — Quick and friendly. Rushed... but the atmosphere demanded it! Food — Coffee and a bagel. Cappuccino and a pastry. Everything was good or better. Value — Prices were moderate; especially when considering location. Atmosphere — Informal and comfortable for a quick bite. Not a place to 'hang out.'

Every trip to NYC I visit Zabars. I love the market and the kitchen ware upstairs. You can grab a bagel and salmon or a egg custard! Dont miss this place.

Zabar's has everything you could possibly want to eat. 000's of cheese varieties, salads, smoked and fresh fish, lots of artisan breads tro die for, baked on site. A least a dozen different types of cavier, not bought any - yet! We always buy too much and then walk across to Central Park and have a picnic and people watch.... More

They just sling our a lot of really tasty food at what is by New York City standards a good price. They are a classic and deserve to be so.

This is one of the more well known deli's in New York City. Always crowded with mainly locals. Many choices some even hard to find stuff. Not inexpensive.but consistently good over the years.

If you want a totally unique New York experience, get yourself to Zabars deli on the Upper West; a local Jewish neighbourhood deli, jam packed with freshly baked strudels, bagels, special blend coffee, cheeses, olives......you name it.

Zabar's has been a top place to purchase food in NY for decades. A visit to the city should include a walk on Broadway from Fairway at 74th, to Citarella next door at 75th to Zabar's at 80th. However, Zabar's is resting on its laurels and has grown lazy. You must check the fresh-date stamps in the diary as some... More
