Drawn here by their support of NPR's Selected Shorts, we walked all the way from 35th street - quite a hike but worth it! Picked up all the supplies for a lovely picnic lunch: bread, prosciutto, mozzerella, olives. Grabbed peaches from a vendor on the way to the park and had the perfect NY city picnic!

The biggest problem shoppers at Zabar''s face is the overwhelming choice of delicious food to buy. It would be harder to find a larger selection of high quality cold cuts of every kind, smoked fish and classic New York pastries. For a very reasonable cost, you can put together a great selection of foods and buy ice packs and an... More

This is a classic deli in the upper west side- The bagels are the best and the bundt cake delicious. It's a bit of walk from Columbus circle but definitely worth it-

This is a Jewish deli, but carries a full selection of groceries. Their lox are fresh and sliced to order, What is lnice about this store is the choices you will have and the quality is superb. They have a wonderful cheese dept., a kosher meat department, fresh breads and bakery item, you can order a deli sandwich to go... More

We picked up bagels, lox, several kinds of cheese (fresh burrata!), knishes, black and white cookies, chocolate, and drinks from downstairs, and then grabbed knives and a cutting board from housewares upstairs, before heading off into The Ramble for a delicious picnic in Central Park. So yummy... I wanted to stock up both for us and as "mitbringsel" (gifts to... More

This must-see foodie heaven is a go-too destination for gourmets and impassioned consumers looking for hard-to-find implements, ingredients, cheeses, meats, breads, and pretty much whatever you need. Massive store has the biggest collection of olive barrels I have ever seen in my life.

Zabar’s coffee shop was conveniently located to our hotel in Upper West Side so it was an easy choice for the first morning’s breakfast. The coffee was good and the bagels were chewy. Husband wanted to have egg on a bagel first but they only serve sandwiches that can be heated. But our choice of bagels and coffee, did their... More

We are from a town of 200,000 so we do not have the great grocery stores like this.I enjoyed buying some Italian products that I can not get back home. It is very crowed but had so much neat stuff

Zabar's is a must for any New York trip! We got fare for our breakfast here each morning and all of it was great. It's a NYC institution.
