We wandered around before brunch at abc kitchen. No one would help us or greet us. The stock looked like a mismash of anthropologie and crate and barrel. Silly store with arrogant staff.

They used to have a wonderful fabric area my wife loved. I guess they had together rid of that to fit in more overpriced bric a brac.

It's a must in NYC if you like décorations. They have so many things in there that you could spend a few hours there. You can get ideas but you need a lot of money if you want to buy furniture there.

I had a great late lunch at ABC Cocina (read my review if it as well) on November 18, 2014. A nice plus of dining there is it is located inside ABC Carpet & Home. After my meal, I wandered all six floors (thankfully they have elevators). Most items were way out of my price range, but I did select... More

Great array of ethnic/designs/recommendations in home decorating arena. It is just awesome to walk through the front door and see the amazing and different designs and displays........worth the trip to just stand in AWE.

I'll be honest, I usually get some perverse glee out of posting a negative review. I'm very picky about what I'll review at all -- it has to be really awesome or really bad -- so if I write a negative review, it's because the establishment in question damn well deserves it. In this case, however, my feelings are mixed.... More

ABC carpet is such a nice store with dedicated floors showing kitchen tableware, cushions vases candles, bedding, bathroom goods, furniture, stationary, clothes, jewellery, rugs all with a good mix of vintage/antique and new modern. The store is well styled, often more feminine with a nod to the vintage feel. Well worth a walk round….very inspiring and they often have good... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
