My daughter and I were a "daycation". We started out in Park Slope, Brookly New York to go shopping and have lunch. The place we were going to for lunch was closed. We were hungry and my daughter asked if we could drive to the Bronx and go to Arthur Avenue for food! My husband is an avid Yankee fan... More

You need to know where you are going. We got lost and ended up finding it after walking about 30 blocks. The market itself is ok, but Arthur Avenue as a whole is excellent. There are so many bakeries making traditional italian cookies, cakes and pastries. Tons of restaurants and just a lot of cool Italian people. I would go... More

Even though I no longer live in the area I still make a pilgrimage back to the Bronx once a year. The Market has been updated. Most of the same vendors are still there. You can get hand rolled cigars, fresh produce, great butcher shop and of course Mike's Deli. They have every kind of italian cold cuts. Fresh made,... More

We stopped at the new Pasticceria in the market and bought cupcakes for our grand daughter's birthday. They were VERY expensive at $4 each but looked nice and we thought that she'd like them. When we got them home that evening to celebrate, we found that they were VERY stale with a poor taste. The icing was hard. A $4... More

What little we saw we loved, but we left early because of friends who were lame. We had pizza at Ivanna's which was delicious and exactly what we expected. The manager, Frank was very friendly and gave us a couple of free t-shirts and recommended other places in the area which we did not get a chance to try. We... More

Visiting the Arthur Ave Retail Market and the "Belmont" section of the Bronx is a walk back in time to the 1950's and 60's in NYC. There are about 35 "mom and pop" shops with delicious food and fantastic prices. One is more delicious than the next- cheese shops, pastry and bread shops, fresh pasta and restaurants. A great way...
