For $5.00 I went to the UCB East location and enjoyed the 1pm graduation show for improv. It was a great hour spent seeing new and upcoming talent. Comfortable seating, convenient location just minutes from the subway (Union Station). This is a must see for anyone visiting the city. Check out all the East Village has to offer with it's... More

Great find and a real bargain at $10 each. We saw the curfew on Saturday night. Loved it! These guys are amazing. Drinks were also really reasonable, $4 for a beer. Forget the tourist trap comedy clubs with cover charges and 2 drink rules, this place is awesome. Only downside is queuing outside, so remember your brolly.

I've come to New York for two weeks to see as much improv and comedy as I can. As an aspiring comedian Upright Citizens was the place I wanted to go the most - only, I wasn't in time to get a reservation. I made sure I was early enough to be first in line but felt all the staff... More

Be prepared to wait in line outside 45 minutes to file in to open seating 10 minutes prior show's start. We saw Curfew. I have to give the performers credit working spontaneously without a script. That being said, they relied on shock value (profanity and graphic sexual talk) instead of witty, cleaver humor. Each show will be unique. We had... More

Went for Asssscat 3000 on Sunday night. Best part of our NYC vacation! The monologues were done by Marcelle Karp (basically my feminist idol! also hilarious because last time I was here, her teenage daughter Ruby did them!) and my SNL idol Aidy Bryant was part of the improv! I laughed so hard I cried. (MAJOR props to some of... More

Free Improv shows. We went on Sunday night. After waiting 45 minutes to get one of the 150+ free tickets being handed out for the show later that night, we had time for a quick dinner at Texas BBQ then headed back. Quick theater entry and a grab for seating location. I was expecting that "free" meant, 2 expensive drink... More

We lined up for the free Sunday 9:30 ASSSSCAT 3000 show. I would recommend arriving no later than about 7:15 otherwise you really will miss out. They handed out tickets to the people in the line at 8:15, so you could wander around (i.e. get out of the freezing cold) for an hour or so before the show. The improvisers... More

Have you ever felt that if something is not very expensive you doubt it's quality because it's an unbelievable bargain? Well this does NOT apply. We payed $5 for an hour of laughs and enjoyment. Though the theatre so most famous for improv and standup comedy, we so happened to be there on the "ten minute play festival night". In... More

This is a great hole in the wall little theatre in which improv groups get to compete against one another, sort of Second City style. The groups we saw were good, not great, so it might be a hit-or- miss kind of experience. We brought our teenage kids. While we enjoyed it, they missed a lot of references as the... More

This is a staple in New York City - the comedy mecca of the world. I have been to many comedy and improv clubs in the world, but this one just stands out as the best. Their rapid-fire long-form improv were world-class. If you are visiting, I would recommend that you book your seats for the Stepfathers and ASSSCATs as... More
