UPSIDE: young, daring, super smart improv teams providing 60 minute shows for only $11. Plus, the mystique of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler (founders) add juju and raises expectations. Setting is intimate, a thrust stage and seating capacity of 140 plus 20 standing room. friendly bar prices included wine or beer for $6. DOWNSIDE: Why, why, why were there no... More

We took my parents to see their 'Rumpleteaser Musical Improv' troupe. 'A totally improvised musical' is exactly what we got. The theatre is small and intimate - get there early for some pre-show drinks at their bar. Not sure what to expect, we were blown away by the talent of the performers - so funny, such great singers. A totally... More

Took me 11 years to get back to see a show here. Wasn't quite as funny as last time, but that's what you get with Improv. Still, it was a great way to spend an evening; especially for $10/ticket. A lot of shows are free and first come/ first serve so check their website. NOTE: The theater is showing it's... More

NOTE: This review is for the East Village location. Visited UCB for their Lloyd Night event - we were standby for the sold out event and managed to get in. We were warned in advance that is may be standing room only but myself and my partner got seats at the back. My partner has good hearing and mine is... More

Highly recommend this comedy club. The actors are extremely funny and talented. This is not stand-up comedy but improv where they get suggestions from the audience and then act it out. Hilarious. Our family talked about the different characters, funny skits, excellent wit and quick too all night afterwards. Great location in the East Village and must do when in... More

Enjoyed a little Monday night entertainment at the East Village location. It was funny. They definitely weren't amateurs and they guided the improv jam after the show with grace.

I went to see The Stepfathers Friday night show a few weeks ago with some friends and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were only visiting NYC from the UK for 4 nights and given the expense of the rest of our activities I still can't believe this is only $10 a ticket ! The improvisers were hilarious, the place was packed... More

Great improv comedy at a reasonable price. This theater was started by Amy Poehler and her friends before they were famous. Since then, it's been the training grounds for many familiar faces and writers in the tv and movie industries. Famous actors, writers, and comedians still like to drop in. NOTE: typical show is usually not appropriate for kids due... More

Went to the one in the East Village. The front door is hard to find, because it's not lit, but the bar access was easy to find. We went to the HelloGiggles show, and it was good. The MC was a 15 year old named Ruby, who was adorable, and tried really hard, I admired that. Special guest comedian was... More
