We had recommendations from two people to go here for comedy - and they were SO right! This is a club that is loved by the comedians because they require the patrons to respect the art (keep table chat to a minimum, etc.). The night we were there, Ray Romano was a surprise guest and he did about 40 minutes... More

There are only a few greats left. Chapelle, Rock & Murphy. After those, you struggle to find anyone in that Calibre. While we're there watching some awesome acts, Marty decides to do a guest spot on a Monday night at 1.30am. One of the greatest moments of my life. Jelly or Syrup????

Got in off the wait list on a Saturday 10:30 show. Great way to spend an evening, laughter is good. All five comedians were funny, no duds at all. They pack you in tight but somehow it works and all part of the experience. Dave Attel and Godfrey were awesome.

I didn't make a reservation but got there super early to put my name on the standby list for a show on a Thursday night. I think only 3 or 4 groups made it in off the standby list so I would highly recommend making a reservation a couple days in advance. I didn't get lucky enough to see a... More

While you won't know who is on the lineup until soon before the show, it probably won't matter, as they seem to get the best talent. Honestly, even the emcee was hilarious and I would gladly go to see a show with just him. We will likely make this a usual stop on return visits to the city.

Our 4 day trip to NYC started off with a bang! The Comedy Cellar delivered many tear jerking performances. Our group enjoyed the comics. It's also neat to be in what I would call a historical comedy club. Comedians like Robin Willians, Dave Chappell, Jerry Seinfeld, & countless other well known faces have performd at this club over the past... More

Very confident in saying that! Great atmosphere amazing comedy and such a great small setting for a show. You will spend about 50 bucks with cover / drink minimum and it will be worth every penny. If you are lucky you will get one of their famous comedian drop ins. We recently had Chris Rock and Amy Schumer drop in... More

Went with my gf to this great little spot on a Sunday night. The acts were very funny and then Ray Romano showed up on stage! The comedians are interacting with the people in the small crowd (50-ish people max) in a way that is impossible in larger venues. All this for a 14$ cover charge and a two-drinks minimum... More

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
