The live band are an absolute must. This is the second time I've been to watch them - just fabulous. Cocktails are so so but the atmosphere and friendliness of people there more than make up for that. My friend left early and I felt more than happy to stay until 2am without her. Make time for this one on... More

There were 6 acts. First two, good, One very good, one a little uncomfortable and two of them appeared to have no planned material/act and were dragging it out to fill time. The audience member hook-ups crap, who cares, not clever, not funny, waste of my time. They needed help from the MC to get anywhere. We enjoy comedy clubs... More

Visited the "open mic" with my girlfriend and we were contemplating whether to do it, because of the $15 entry per person and a 2 drink minimum (6-7 for beers, and 11-12 for cocktails). But it was worth every dollar. The band and the local singers were just amazing, the mood was great in the room and we ended up... More

My boyfriend and I really wanted to go to the Comedy Cellar, but it was all booked, so they recommended going to their sister club, the Village Underground, around the corner. It ended up being the same line-up as it would have been at the Comedy Cellar later and it was great! $14 for each ticket and a two drink/item... More

Better than decent lineup of comedians on a hot Friday night in August. Weakest link was the MC. Best to be there early as we were seated way in the back at a communal booth with four strangers. $20 cover is fair imho. Drinks too are fairly priced and well made (surprising at how tough it is to get a... More

The show was good however do not show up without having your email confirmation. My friend submitted a reservation and it said it was confirmed but she never received an email. So when we arrived the woman was quite rude thank godness another woman spoke up and said there must have been some confusion but no worries and seated us.... More

We booked the 8pm Comedy Cellar slot on a Wednesday night. We sat in the first row which was practically on stage. There was no entry fee but there was a 2 item food/drink min per person. I had the wings and my husband had the spinach panini and we both really enjoyed our meal. The line up was pretty... More

We asked some locals, not the ones trying to sell you stuff on Times Square, were to go to see comedy and they all recommended Comedy Cellar (or Village underground, which is the same thing but different local and only ones a week). I enjoyed most of the comedians and it was generally really good value. Make sure to make... More

My boyfriend and I decided last minute to make a reservation at the underground because of the huge lineup we saw the night before and were so glad we did! The show was so good that we decided to go another somewhere else in Greenwich village right after! I would definitely recommend booking one, if not two shows while you're... More

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
