I have been to Smoke four times now and have sat right in front, way in the back and somewhere in the middle. The sound is excellent from all vantage points. Smoke is the place to see real jazz. This is where jazz stars hang out to see other jazz musicians kill it! The talent is always stellar. I just... More

Was there on a Sat night and really enjoyed the jazz and food. We got there for early show and arrived early so we could all chat for awhile before the jazz started. Had the jambalaya, ribs and chicken and all were great. Jazz was great and the sound system was moderated nicely so it wasn't too loud and you... More

I was there on Sunday night. The group of four played wonderful music but you should have ear pads. It is not high pitch all the time but loud. The place is just too small for that music. The drums taking too much place, he is good at it but makes the place very loudy. the lady at the piano... More

I am giving Smoke five stars for the music. We saw Jason Marshall's 15-piece big band--a logistical miracle given the size of the venue! It was restaurant week so they had a prix fixe menu for $38. The food was okay, nothing special, but for that price in NYC we could not complain. I had calamari to start, which was... More

Went on a flyer and decided to check out Vivian Sessoms at Smoke. What a wonderful night. I found her to be an amazing singer, and her phrasing phenomenal. Smoke is a jazz club and as such will be a little more expensive, but unlike some of it's counterparts downtown totally within reason. The staff especially the bartender from Tashkent,... More

My husband and I planned a reunion with a small group of friends coming into NYC from all over the country. For some, this was their first time in New York City. Smoke was the perfect combination of intimate venue, great service, good food, and great music. My husband and a friend both raved over the lobster eggs benedict (see... More

Best small jazz venue ever. I may have just been in the right mood, but sitting at bar and enjoying Steve Tremme Quintet was just what I wanted on a Saturday night in NYC. Lamb sliders were tres bien with a glass of Old Overholt Rye. Highly recommended.

Great ambiance, wonderfully cool little place. The appetizers were amazing; I had a caeser salad and deep fried shrimp. The main course was good but not great. I wish I had chose a different item (had the southern deep-fried chicken). The portion size is really large, impossible to eat everything they gave you. Dessert was great, but by that time... More

Very small venue, but surprisingly uncrowded considering the quality of both the music and the food. Sure, the pizza was a bit of a wet mess, but it was very tasty and the sea food pasta didn't skimp on the lobster. Great value, certainly, and an excellent atmosphere to boot.
