Small intimate jazz bar. Very good music (40 per person), good food, average quality drinks. The fried calamari were very good and so was the something-flower martini; however just two of these gave me a very bad hangover. Fair prices for upper west Manhattan Overall great experience. .

We didn't book and arrived for the 10.30 pm session on a Thursday nite 17/7/15. Sat. Close to stage and had already eaten so had drinks only. There is a min spend 20 per head plus music charge per head so bill can mount up quite easily. We stayed on for free show after mid nite which was rap x jazz... More

Dinner was surprising good - fried chicken excellent. Music was top notch. We saw the Mike LeDonne organ quartet on a Tuesday night. We wanted to stay but next set was sold out. Glad we got tix a week in advance.

I have been to Smoke four times now and have sat right in front, way in the back and somewhere in the middle. The sound is excellent from all vantage points. Smoke is the place to see real jazz. This is where jazz stars hang out to see other jazz musicians kill it! The talent is always stellar. I just... More

Was there on a Sat night and really enjoyed the jazz and food. We got there for early show and arrived early so we could all chat for awhile before the jazz started. Had the jambalaya, ribs and chicken and all were great. Jazz was great and the sound system was moderated nicely so it wasn't too loud and you... More

I was there on Sunday night. The group of four played wonderful music but you should have ear pads. It is not high pitch all the time but loud. The place is just too small for that music. The drums taking too much place, he is good at it but makes the place very loudy. the lady at the piano... More

I am giving Smoke five stars for the music. We saw Jason Marshall's 15-piece big band--a logistical miracle given the size of the venue! It was restaurant week so they had a prix fixe menu for $38. The food was okay, nothing special, but for that price in NYC we could not complain. I had calamari to start, which was... More
