Quick pit stop for a beer

Didn't know the history of this place. Says being the oldest bar New York. Stopped by for a quick beer prior to our 39 steps show. Excellent.

After a week of bad food and service this was heaven. We did not have high hopes when we arrived but were soon soaking up the great atmosphere. The waitress was great, food was great. The veal with a masala sauce was excellent as was my daughters chicken parmagiana. It was busy but we weren't rushed and did not have... More

Hidden gem in Manhattan!! Food atmosphere and staff were perfect.. Lasagne was best we ever tasted but portions are HUGE so consider getting one to share Also a must if into celeb spotting never know who you might see on your visit, just have a look at all the photos on the walls Special mention to the bar man from... Very nice old pub with a unique atmosphere with friendly staff. Our party ordered burgers, which took a while to arrive despite the place was not packed. They were pretty average and definitely overpriced ($18.50 before taxes). I would suggest to visit the place for a drink and appetizers at the bar.

We turned up on spec for lunch. The bar area is low lit, buzzy, with wood panels, tin ceilings and a step into old New York.. You can tick your tourist box for 'prohibition bar' . The restaurant area at the back is less atmospheric with a TV showing sport and the decor isn't 'old style' but the food is good,... More

We stopped in for a drink to check out the history before having dinner elsewhere. It was such a fun spot and after checking their menu we decided to stay for dinner. We shared an order of Prince Edward Island Mussels and I had the blue cheese burger. it was delish. It was such fun to sit the O Henry... More

Old building in the Gramercy area ...... Full of atmosphere. Bar is always busy. Attracts all ages. We always start with their deep fried zucchini and their great marinara sauce. Their daily specials are always a treat, as is their prime rib. Lots of pictures of famous people who have enjoyed the food and drink. Very nice tribute to their... More

What a great place. Real atmosphere, real beer, real food. Great range of beer and wine, including staples like Amstel and Guiness, but also a lot of great American brews on tap too. Brooklyn lager was my favourite, but there was plenty more to chose from. The food was great, we ate there twice and the food is very tasty... More

Beautiful bar, wonderful atmosphere. Food is okay. This may be the place for a quick bump - and then move on for a better meal elsewhere. But for a drink, it's great.
