Old building in the Gramercy area ...... Full of atmosphere. Bar is always busy. Attracts all ages. We always start with their deep fried zucchini and their great marinara sauce. Their daily specials are always a treat, as is their prime rib. Lots of pictures of famous people who have enjoyed the food and drink. Very nice tribute to their... More

What a great place. Real atmosphere, real beer, real food. Great range of beer and wine, including staples like Amstel and Guiness, but also a lot of great American brews on tap too. Brooklyn lager was my favourite, but there was plenty more to chose from. The food was great, we ate there twice and the food is very tasty... More

Beautiful bar, wonderful atmosphere. Food is okay. This may be the place for a quick bump - and then move on for a better meal elsewhere. But for a drink, it's great.

We're subletting an apartment for a couple of months two blocks away from Pete's and were told we had to try the city's oldest continually serving tavern. We stopped in early one evening on our way to a movie for a quick drink and burger and loved it. It reminded us of PJ Clark's but really had its own vibe... More

Wow, what a great new york dining/restaurant/bar. Looked so happy from the outside with all those lights. Inside even more lights. But maybe that was also because of christmas time. It was so small inside, but it felt like a home. Dinner was just good, nothing special. All the posters on the walls and specially the 9/11 heroS, are very... More

Went with some friends on a busy weekday evening, post dinner. It was jammed on the inside, but we were seated almost immediately on a high top in the front with a view to the street. Had some small plates, all good and reasonable, drinks as well. Photos of famous folk, from NYC and elsewhere (I didn't see any in... More

We brought a friend back with us for dinner and it was outstanding! We had visited a couple of years ago and were excited to go back. I know it is listed in tourist books but it is still worth it

Went to this restaurant for a business dinner. Plates are in the old-style tradition, quite heavy and mimicking Italian food. Only problem is, nowadays it's rather easy to find "true" regional food anywhere, that the bad copies are a bit ... outdated. In any case, the place has a lot of history, pictures on the wall, etc etc. Good place... More

The first time I went to Pete's was 30 years ago, just after I had moved into the neighborhood. I have not lved in NYC for a long time, but always stop at Pete's when I am there. Last night I had that opportunity and the food and service were as good as ever. The atmosphere can not be beat.

Opened in 1864, they claim to be the oldest original bar in New York City. The bar is wonderful and very authentic. The staff was friendly and helpful. After sitting at the bar for a while we moved outside for dinner. The goat cheese salad was delicious! We will definitely go back again!
