I've lived in a suburb of NYC my entire life and had never been to Birdland until tonight. Grant it, I'm not in the entertainment industry, although I do attend concerts, operas and theater. Our niece, a Broadway-style actress and singer is in town and was performing at the "Open Mic" during Jim Caruso's Cast Party, which occurs every Monday... More

The music was great and so was the food. Service was good and the atmosphere was warm. Will certainly stop by again when in NY.

My spouse and I went for dinner and a performance of the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra on a Sunday evening. The performance was wonderful ... And these guys do great work in schools , too. Plus they've won 3 Grammies. I don't think there are any bad seats unless you are in the far back corner. There is a $10... More

Went to Birdland Friday night for the 5:30 show and ended up buying tickets and staying for the 8:30 show too! I bought these tickets as a date night for my husband and me. I am so happy I did. We had the best time ever. We were already talking about when we will be returning again. I took the... More

Had only read about Birdland and its history, amongst others, involving Charlie Parker. It was basically as expected. Great jazz and personal service in typical jazz club surroundings. I travel home much richer than when I came. I have really physically been to Birdland!

I have never walked out of there thinking I paid money and wasted 2 hours on lousy entertainment. Their headliner is now the famous MAC (Manhattan Assc of Cabarets and Clubs) award winner Natalie Douglas. She is now taking up residence on Sunday nights with occasional guest performers. Yesternight, Birdland was graced by Ms. Carol Woods who did two tearful... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
