Saw Jane Monheit for her 6 pm Sunday jam with her group and guests. It's like stepping back 60 or so years. Great jazz in a classic setting. Her show is superb. Service and food above average. A very nice early evening.

This Jazz Club has a long history in New York and is well deserved I'm sure. As a first time visitor to the city and not a "club" visitor in general I wanted to experience some live music in this setting. I was not disappointed and loved the experience! We went to the dinner show and saw Linda Lavin! She... More

We heard the Louis Armstrong Eternity Band which plays every Wednesday at 5:30 pm. The night we were there they had a great line up. While I missed a pianist all the musicians: sax and clarinet, banjo, tuba, trumpet, trombone and drums were great

We went to the Saturday 6 PM show with Barbara Carroll. It was excellent with good food and good service. There were not many people there, so we had a great table very close to the stage. I will try to go again next time I'm in NYC.

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening of live jazz music in the historic and legendary Birdland! We saw Arturo O'Farrill and Auction Project - great group - wow! Awesome and very friendly service and a wonderful positive vibe in this club!

I am not always a huge fan of Jazz but I had heard about Birdland on W. 44th St. in NYC and decided to take a chance on o"Ferrill and his quirky collection of musicians--accordian player, fiddler, drummer, and bass--this fourth of july weekend. The opening number was everything I don't like about Jazz-chaotic and feeling so off key but... More

The Louis Armstrong tribute band was excellent and very enjoyable. Food was in the "unremarkable" category and a bit overpriced (as expected).

We went to Birdland expecting to hear high quality jazz. There was an open microphone, swarmy presenter and singers ranging from 9-60. Felt like a version of X factor. Not being critical of the singers some were really good and the pianist and musicians were good but not what we were expecting from a supposedly high quality jazz club. The... More

a great central Jazz location serving reasonable food. pricing is variable and very negotiable - bring stubs from a show if your heading there late night and you should get a discount on the cover charge. its a cool vibe only missing a thick blue haze of cigarette smoke. recommended
