I´ve always wanted to go to a jazz club during my trips to New York, and this was my first time. When arriving at Birdland it turned out it was not a jazz night, but an open mic night. We decided to give it a try after all and did not regret it. Me and my friends had a great... More

For $30 you get a sensational evening out with world class jazz music and an awesome atmosphere. A Broadway show will cost you five times that and, to be honest, this was more enjoyable. We saw the big band jazz at 5pm on a Friday and loved it. Very intimate and interactive. We didn't eat but enjoyed their mojitos and... More

We saw Kurt Elling here and it was excellent. Much cheaper than a Broadway show and intimate in size. Food is pretty good as well.

Upscale clientele but not stuffy. Spacious- was surprised at how big. We're all here for the music so everyone respecting the musicians. Unlike some other touristy spots (Blue Note/BB King). It's busy... Very busy, but the staff is efficient. We sat at the bar (couldn't get Ticketfly to accept credit card so went without reservations, almost a disaster) with a... More

We saw a young Australian pianist, Matt Baker, perform with a bass player and drummer at the early show. We had reservations, arrived suitably early enough to order dinner and relax before the show began. Our seats weren't front row, but perfectly fine. The performers were great. A very nice Oscar Peterson tribute with a few charming anecdotes. The service... More

I had been there with three of my friends. It was the first time for all of us to visit here, and Brazilian jazz was performed on that day. Since we were unfamiliar with jazz, we could not even distinguish between Brazilian jazz and Bossa Nova. I was comfortable for the slow-tempo music, but it was lullaby for others and... More

We were recommended David Ostwald's Louis Armstrong Eternity Band (Wednesday 5:30 - 7:00, tickets $25 + minimum $10 spend) and weren't disappointed. Vince Giordano guested and the band had some good banter. You can chat to the band after they get off stage and we enjoyed a few words with Vince. I had a NY Strip steak with Garlic Mash... More

The photos on the walls conjure up a vision of days gone by. As they say, "If only these walls could talk." If you love great Jazz music you'll never want to leave. We caught an early show, and enjoyed drinks and appetizers. We will always include this stop in future trips to the city!

A fabulous night of Jazz. Have a southern fried chicken dinner, hear and see movie stars and celebrities perform in an intimate surrounding. Steeped in history and Jazz and famous performers. It's not to be missed. Make reservations and show up on time.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
