I have to give this 3 stars. I'm meeting in the middle because I give it 5 stars for venue and jazz performance but 1 star for restaurant service. The staff were...almost...unpleasant. "I'm so sorry I'm inconveniencing you by attending your place of work and ordering food and asking you for things". We only saw our waitress a couple of... More

I had a terrible experience and it was my last night in New York! I went there on a recommendation and was told it was a $30 music cover by the host so I got a table and ordered half a bottle of wine thinking that I was going to be there for a while. I didn't realize that the... More

This is such a fun venue. A walk back to the Jazz era! On Friday nights the Birdland house band plays at 5. Need to book ahead. They are great and you are out by 7 if you need to catch theatre or dinner.

My husband and I enjoyed seeing two shows in one night at Birdland. It was a Monday night and not else much available to do in NYC, so this was the place we chose to try. We were not disappointed! Loved the first singer, Laura Osnes. Then staying for the Cast Party Open Mic night afterwards was the \best decision... More

For about $45, you can sit in a premiere Manhattan jazz nightclub surrounded by candlelight and the music you came to experience. I cannot think of a more romantic, classy, yet informal venue (ties are unnecessary). Expensive? I have paid hundreds for concert tickets in arenas where I had to watch a Jumbotron to actually SEE the performers. This is... More

small venue for jazz lovers! Price was $40 per person. The entire place holds maybe 100 people. We watched a big band/jazz group that was outstanding!!! We had great seats (all seats are the same price) and we also enjoyed dessert during the show. If you like jazz, you must come here!

Had a wonderful night at Birdland. We went on Open Cast (Monday) night and really enjoyed the performances. Such fun. Food was also good. Had the BBQ Ribs and they were mighty tasty. I highly recommend, even if you go just for drinks and jazz.

Birdland was right across the street from our hotel and my son who is a musician was thrilled. It just so happened that one of his favorite jazz guitarists was playing there so we attended an 8pm show. It is a great venue with a lot of atmosphere. We were not aware they served food so we had already eaten.... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
