As a jazz fan a trip to New York would not be complete without a night at Birdland. We spent a few hours listening a tribute to the music of Louis Armstrong. The band were very good. We ate there and although the food was of a high standard, it is on the pricey side.

When in NYC we always attend the Birdland Big Band event on Friday evenings... such awesome musicians and a great meal to enjoy while they play. The atmosphere is very nice and not like a "club"... very clean and very friendly!

I was there for the evening performances by Iris Williams. I liked everything. The songs, the food, the server, the staffs, and even the audience. I sat just behind - within an arm's length- the famous "Marilyn Maye" from the Johny Carson shows. Many came over to say hello to her. She looked great, and gracious. A lot of gentle... More

Great jazz club near the bus station on '8thAv.Locale town named after the great Charlie Parker, is available each evening at least two concerts. You can dine or have a drink by booking two seats banco bar.

We decided to check this place out after dinner. The Wednesday night band and started about 5:30 and we got there about 6:30. So we paid a $10 cover and sat at the bar for the last 45 minutes of their set. We heard David Ostwald's Louis Armstrong Eternity Band. It was a very pleasant early evening.

When we're in NYC on a Friday night it has to be Birdland. The big band always has a great selection of music and a real rapport with the audience. A fun early evening.

We live just outside of NYC and visit often. This was our first trip to Birdland, however. We made an online reservation for the 8:30p show on a Tuesday. We arrived at 7:15p and we were given a fantastic table adjacent to the small stage. The food is just ok, but priced reasonably. The place filled up and had a... More

Our friends from QLD, Australia had previously visited & thoroughly enjoyed. Well we were certainly not dissapointed. The venue was great, friendly staff very accomodating and the food was very nice. Best of all was the music and musicians for a birthday tribute to Coltrane performed by Steve Kuhn-Eric Alexander-Lonnie Plaxico & Steve Smith (ex Journey). Thoroughly enjoyed so much... More

We booked at the last minute and enjoyed a tribute to Coltrane by Steve Kuhn, Eric Alexander and Steve Smith. The venue is well set out with almost all tables affording good view of the band. The acoustics were excellent. Although not the main focus of the event, the meals were among the best we enjoyed in New York. I... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
